My main issue with this is that it probably means that Lukaku is starting against Southampton insted.

Smalling unfortunately is our best CB. As bad as that is, and as bad as that sounds, he is. Dalot has been impressive in the 3 games he has played. I saw more from him in those games than Valencia has shown all season. Why not to give the kid a run out against the European giants of Young Boys

That's completely different from someone being fit to represent Manchester United. Smalling would be a squad player at best for a good United team and the same can be said for most of our players.

De Gea, Pogba and Martial are the only ones that you can confidently say are the right quality. Sanchez based on Arsenal form but certainly not for us.

Players like Rashford, Shaw, Dalot, Periera have potential but they could just as easily drop down to a mid table team if they don't do things right. Of course I want them to play, but not because of this idea that they are good enough, you play these players so they develop and can become good enough.

Feels like one of those nights we will cruise to a 3/4-0 and it'll be declared that it was still the wrong team sheet.

If we comfortably put them away does that make Jose wrong on his selection choice?
A team like United should put Young Boys away with half the reserve squad starting and the rest being bench players. So no it doesn't change anything. The point that people are making and constant complaints are because we never build towards anything. We never have a sense of what are we actually trying to do. Do we need to go with a team of massive players and a midfield with both Fellaini and Matic in against Young Boys? You can't be a little more adventurous than that? Yeah it'll probably get the win. But it'll also be most likely a shit performance and boring game, which is the norm with him as a manager.

To be honest, at the exception of maybe the CM combination, I don't really see the issue with the selection.

My thoughts also. I turned against Mourinho more than ever after Palace, but following his post match it seems there was a clear instruction to play with intensity and purpose which they looked to just refuse.

I don't really care if its Mourinho or Pep in charge for us, the old saying "minimum requirement is maximum effort" seems to go amiss to many of this crop and its not good enough.

He's probably reacting to that today, and if we win the game I'm not really bothered.

Are you pretending to not understand issues people having or you for real? Either way, will answer you, yea its wrong, Matic selection is wrong, he could score 20 tonight and still it would be wrong.

Why? You're just being stubborn now. If a defensive midfielder scores a stupid amount of goals, you will still say on hindsight he shouldn't play?

Can’t understand why he won’t give Sanchez a continuous run of games up top...he gives him one start , takes him off after 70 mins and drops him for the next game but if you’re name is Lukaku you can play 11 games and not score .

Feel sorry for the young lads upfront, very little creativity and assistance from the midfield.

I definately note your point about continuity.

Easy win, I reckon we could hit four or five tonight.

Yes you are right. Let's play with 3 players instead.

That 'midfield' is the issue here. We all know what to expect from it. The front three wouldn't be able to play to half of their full potential and expect the defence to be completely exposed.

Thats what you said not me. You want to pick based on 'fit to represent Manchester United' not me. Its a ludicrous criteria since we have lots of players in our squad that are not first team quality.

Fred, Martial, Rashford and Lingard will obliterate Young Boys.

Jose just interviewed on BT he says Rashford , Fred start because you always ask them to start now they start.

He might start answering the drop Matic requests next hopefully.

Yea based on his performances in last X amount of games he has no business on the pitch, like i said he could score 20, no feck it, lets go 50 goals tonight and still he would be wrong pick. Being stubborn yea thats it, nothing to do with 1/10 performances week in week out, while probably people sitting on the bench scratching their heads and thinking God knows what.

    Similar video from pre-season:

Part of the problem is having too many players involved in such a small amount of space. There's a video in the replies of City players doing same training drill but they have a few players less doing it so a bit more space to do it in.

Thank you for this. I have to say that I thought exactly the same thing.
What are they trying to achieve with the players so close together.

The most depressing first 11 in Jose era. Jones and Lingard in squad. Pogba on the bench. Dalot and Sanchez nowhere.
Btw why is Sanchez out of squad? What the feck is going on with him?

I swear he's just being a knob on purpose now.

Is that quote from interview for real? If so, if we fail to win or some shit , he will come out and say something similar like last season, "Now you see why X and Y always play".
