Ozils best stuff was when he could link with Giroud and had runners like Ramsey and Walcott to feed. Hes not shit at all. Hes really good but needs the right players with him IMO. I think if Ramsey and walcott stay fit they go close to winning the title (and those two played much better esp Ramsey thanks to Ozil)

Those players have done it multiple times before in their careers though.

Of course he hasn't "never ever" done this, someone quoted on the previous page that he'd once had a very good game against Barça where he got a great through ball to CR to win it.
But given the amount of big games he's played in and the amount of times he's disappeared in said big games, I don't think it's particularly misleading to suggest that's one of his weaknesses. However, I think it is misleading to suggest that for the players you've listed on the basis of this WC.
Bar Iniesta (who has also been pretty shite this season) - non of those players have ever been near Ozil's level at a World Cup.

And all those players have not lit up the scene, grabbing games by the scruff of the neck, in recent years. Aguero has flattered to deceive in Europe. Benzema has been mostly disappointing for Real. Sneidjer... Rooney has been very inconsistent, as we both know. And Iniesta for more than a year has shirked away from stepping up when needed by his team (Barcelona and Spain).
Ozil plays for Arsenal - hence the witch hunt.

I wasn't talking about this tournament or even the past season, I was talking about their careers. I agree that it's debatable for Agüero, I have no problem admitting that (though you might point towards his league winning goal as stepping up in a big game, that comes to mind quickly, and maybe some big performances for Atletico ? But I don't know that), the others I can point to multiple big games where they've stepped up throughout their careers. I don't think Özil has ever been that type of player though, yep there will be some isolated cases where he turned in a good performance in a big game, but I'm just pointing out that for me, him disappearing when the stakes are high or the pressure is on his team is a trait of his game.
I have no problem with you disagreeing though, if you feel he's a big game player or if you think the ones you've listed aren't or never have been. And I won't point towards stats to prove my opinion is right over yours. It's just your informed opinion.

It's not Ozil's fault that Wenger didn't sign a striker. It was injuries that cost Arsenal the league when you consider that they were still top in February.
Yes, they did. But their title chase vanished when Özil got injured. He had a overall good first season with injury problems.
In the end all that people will remember is him helping to win that first trophy in 9 years.

BUT he is one of the best midfielders of his generation, only 25, with trophies in 3 giant leagues. The best assist maker in Spain for 3! years.

The Ramsey injury was far more significant and Ozil played in some of the bad results that derailed their title challenge afterwards.
It's so bizarre how he's almost taken a 180 as a player since joining Arsenal. Though I think he'll have a much improved 2nd season for the Gunners, it was clear that he was not very ready to play in the physicality of the EPL week-in-week-out in his first season. He has too much talent not to have a better season this year. And people who call him shit are being quite silly, they clearly didn't watch him at Madrid. On his day he is one of the best in the world in his position.

Ozil is class and doesn't deserve the negative press because 1 season (where I thought he performed amicably) doesn't erase 5 previous seasons of success.

It's a pointless overall point. Pogue said Ozil was ineffective in games against the top teams. You said he was part of the FA Cup final comeback, but this was against Hull and he wasn't that effective, either.

I agree. He is very reliant on having players running beyond him from midfield and making runs in behind the defense. He will do well if Arsenal sign Sanchez.
Just watch Özil, when you are in the stadium, so you are not dependent on the cameras, which usually only show the ball.
