i'll take a 1-0 win but hopefully we can get more than that,
i've got a bad feeling about this game though, like us being thrashed or something

1-0 will take us to extra time, you silly!! Where's the winning mentality in a devil inside??!!!

Wont mind if we win 2-0 or 2-1 Both from Ruud!

We will win 2:0 (Rooney, Ruud). And I have such a feeling that T-HO will win it for us by his performance.

going into extra time is a better option than where we are now

first, there is no gurantee going into extra time! And losing in extra time and tired the players or picking up a few injuries in worse than where we are now (i.e. losing only one away goal, having the hope of winning one goal in Milan)

Going to extra time is too nervy for anyone.... just kill the game off in normal time and it's something we are very capable of acheiving. Stop keeping a low team mentality!

I was right behind that goal. AND for the Henning Berg clearance from Salas. Priceless.

Going this time too. Good friends have family in Milan so should be a top trip!

Anyone else?

Yup - also got friend in Milan - should be amazing. I think we have a chance of turning them over - but we'll really need an excellent performance from the boys.

While its not over yet of course, I'll be travelling with my pessimistic head on. Looking forward to the game, will sing my heart out, then enjoy a few beers afterwards. Anything more - a BIG bonus.

Enjoy it yourself

Maldini hails wonder Wayne

AC MILAN and Italy legend Paolo Maldini has earmarked Wayne Rooney as the man standing between the Rossoneri and a place in the Champions League quarter finals.

The 36-year-old defender coped admirably with United’s precocious youngster as the Italians left Old Trafford with a 1-0 advantage, but he expects a renewed challenge in next week’s second leg.

And with Ruud van Nistelrooy set for more involvement having only appeared as a late substitute in the first tie, Maldini is aware that the tie could easily turn in the San Siro.

"We knew it was important to prevent United from scoring and that meant we had to keep a close eye on Rooney," Maldini told Uefa.com.

"He's a fantastic young player with a lot of energy and movement, so you have to watch him at all times. He will be dangerous in the second game along with Van Nistelrooy who will be a bit sharper after his injury.

Attacking intent

"We can't just sit back and try to defend a 1-0 advantage.

"We will play the same kind of game we played at Old Trafford and that means we will attack and try to get the goals to take us through."

And for Maldini, a four-times Champions League winner with 126 caps to his name, last week’s clash brought back some special memories.

"When we arrived at the stadium one of the first things the players did was to go to the dressing rooms and seek out the places where we changed for the final [in 2003]," he said.

"Of course, it would be fantastic to win the Champions League for the fifth time as a player, but first we have to take care of United and then we will see.”

Milan face Ruud awakening

RUUD van Nistelrooy has revealed belief is growing in the Manchester United camp that they can knock AC Milan out of the Champions League next week.

The prolific Dutch striker was restricted to a 30-minute substitute's appearance in the first leg at Old Trafford last Wednesday but seems certain to start at the San Siro on March 8 as United look to overturn the Italian's 1-0 lead.

And though most pundits have already written the Red Devils off, van Nistelrooy is adamant the spirit within the United camp is such that nothing is impossible.

"We go there with a clear task," he told MUTV. "We have to win.

"It is not a simple thing to do but we have to go for it and we will go for it.

"We were all disappointed at what happened in the first game but as time has gone on, we are all starting to look forward to the Milan game.

"We still believe in ourselves and we are capable of doing it."

In Roy Keane, Gary Neville and Paul Scholes, the current United squad still contains three members of the side that secured the famous 3-2 semi-final win over Juventus after Sir Alex Ferguson's side had fallen two goals behind.

Ryan Giggs was injured that night but it was his last-minute goal at Old Trafford in the first leg that earned United a 1-1 draw, so as he looks around the United dressing room, van Nistelrooy believes there is enough evidence of past glories to prove what can be achieved.

"We want to look forward, not back but that win against Juventus is part of the great history of our club," said the man who with 42 goals trails only Raul in the all-time Champions League standings.

"Knowing there are players in this current squad capable of doing that gives us the confidence to go there and do it.

"It will be hard playing against a fantastic team like AC Milan in the San Siro but we will go for it."

Ferguson has already confirmed van Nistelrooy will start Saturday's Premiership clash with Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park as the 28-year-old continues his search for match sharpness following his recent Achilles problem.

In total, the £18.5million former PSV Eindhoven front-man missed 20 matches before his substitute appearance against Milan.

Van Nistelrooy admitted it has been a frustrating time but by drawing on the lessons learned from his recovery from the serious cruciate injury that at one stage looked like scuppering his United move completely, he was able to remain patient.

"It has been my longest spell out injured since I came to the club," he revealed.

"I have done a lot of hard work over the last few months but getting back on the pitch again makes it all worth it.

"I suppose if you play 70 games a season for a number of years, eventually you are going to get injured. It is part of the job. It is the risk that is involved and you have to deal with it.

"The experience I had getting over my knee injury made sure I didn't rush things or do anything that could aggravate it.

"I just wanted to make sure I came back strong and I have done that."

After watching the Milan derby last Sunday, We have to be at our very best to knock them out.
My feeling is that it will be similar to the 2000-2001 game at Bayern.

'68 Stars Hopeful Reds Can Claim San Siro Win

European Cup winners' Sir Bobby Charlton and Nobby Stiles are confident United can overcome Milan and progress to the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

United face a tall order to qualify for the last eight when they visit the San Siro next Tuesday having gone down 1-0 at Old Trafford in the first leg of the knock-out stages.

Nevertheless, Stiles and Charlton believe United are more than capable of seeing off the Rossoneri on their own patch even though they admit they were hugely impressed by Milan's first leg display.

"Milan played well over here and I think they considered it to be one of their best performances of the season," Charlton told MU.tv.

"They're a strong side but I don't think there's any team strong enough to withstand us if we play really well."

Both Stiles and Charlton were involved in one of United's greatest comebacks of all time on their way to winning the trophy in 1968. 3-1 down at half-time away to Real Madrid, despite having won the first leg 1-0, United looked to be fighting a lost cause.

But a goal from David Sadler and another from Bill Foulkes made it 4-3 to United on aggregate and in turn one of the greatest nights in the club's history.

"There's no reason why United can't do what we did in Madrid in Milan," insists Stiles. "Especially with the players we've got in our side like Keane and Scholes.

"We went to Madrid in the '68 semi-final and even though we were 3-1 down at half-time, we managed to get the result.

"This thing of thinking we're never beaten is part and parcel of the club. Sir Matt Busby had it and Sir Alex has it - it's ingrained into them.

"There have been a number of times when I've expected our lads to go under," adds Sir Bobby. "But they've managed to come through and I think they'll be ready for it on Tuesday.

"What a challenge to go to the San Siro for a place in the quarter-finals - it would be great if we can do it."

If Ruud puts hit magic CL boots on, we can win it.

Cnut could easily score a hattrick if he puts his mind to it.

1-4 to us

I dreamt about this score some days ago... so less 1 (from my previous experience)... it'll be 1-3 to us... place your bets, this rarely fails.

Good point mate. We just need to get through to the next round. Never mind it will be on penalties.

Milan striker Filippo Inzaghi looks set to be fit to be named on the bench in the club's midweek UEFA Champions League clash with Manchester United.
The Italy international missed the first leg at Old Trafford with a hand injury and had been a major doubt for the return clash.

Although it is not expected that Inzaghi would be able to manage a full 90 minutes, it is likely that he will now be named as a substitute.
Inzaghi is desperate to play some part in the game but admits he would not risk his recuperation at any price.

''Football is my life,'' Inzaghi told Gazzetta dello Sport.

''I'd do anything to enter the pitch, but forcing it would be absurd.

''I am absolutely confident in what the doctors and physiotherapists are saying.

''In this period I feel a big affection for Milan and I can say it is a fantastic environment.''

Who were the previous teams to advance from cl knockout stage after losing their home match?

We know who's going to be the next one
