So Carlos Tevez is benched again, he hasn't started a game since the 2 - 0 win against Bolton on 27th September.

Rio Ferdinand is also not in the team at all. Will let you know why when I find out.

EDIT: Rio Ferdinand has a groin problem and misses tonights match

Rio ferdinand will be missed at the back thats for sure, however Johnny Evans is more than capable.

Anderson & Fletcher will be interesting to see together in the middle, and as mentioned Tevez after appearing to be set for a fantastic season after an excellent pre-season is kicking his heels again on the bench.

Neville getting the nod over Brown again in anothe big game is another interesting selection.

We've started with 3 different right-backs in the last 3 games now, is SAF undecided on a permanent player or just taking advantage of the different types of players at his disposal?

SAF says Ronaldo came to see him as soon as he heard the story about him possibly being rested, saying he 'felt great', which is why he starts. He spoke to the team about the two games we played Celtic in 2006 and how those panned out, and also mentioned that he wants to continue way the team are going, and he is enjoying watching hem play.

2006 Games

Man Utd 3 - 2 Celtic - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/europe/5330026.stm

Celtic 1 - 0 Man Utd - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/europe/6160910.stm

Mind games again by SAF in terms of Ronaldo.

Shame Rio is not available. I'm sure Evans will do a good job but our defence looks suspect without either Evra or Rio. I would have much preferred to see Wes at the back instead of Gaz.

Also a bit worried about Boruc. His kicking was awful but you can trust on him to give a Brad Friedelesque performance.

Its important the players go into this game fully appreciative of the threat Celtic can cause. Player for player they aren't one of the better teams in the CL, however that logic tends to go out of the window in these games and work rate and desire to win generally plays a bigger factor than skill and craft.

Nakamura mustn't be given the chance to continue his recent scoring run against us, thats for sure.

Celtic haven't won away in the Champions League for 18 games.

You wouldn't think Celtic's defence could cope with Ronaldo, Berbatov and Insane Rooney?

But there is always time for a first and I expect Celtic to win away..against Aalborg.

Its hard not to be confident going into the game with their recent record in mind, however over confidence from the players will see that the record is swiftly brought to an end.

It is correct though that Rooney, Berbatov and Ronaldo will be a massive threat to their backline.

Kick Off

Berbatov earns a freekick near the corner flag after some good shielding of the ball, it comes to nothing.

Tone of the match has already been set. We are going to be all over them

Celtic seem happy to sit off us and let us play for the moment, O'Shea crosses straight into the arms of Boruc. All United so far.

Long cross/pass by supposed boyhood Celtic fan O'Shea goes straight to Boruc

Some gorgeous play in which Anderson actually got into the box, one touch passing pinging off another resulting in Ronaldo blasting over.

Just to confirm United have started with Nani on the left and Ronaldo on the right.

Ronaldo wastes what was a good opportunity from te edge of the box by firing over.

Berbatov is dropping looking for lots of the ball early on.

Celtic's gameplan is sit back obviously and hope to hit us on the break. Strachan will take anything tonight

Great cross by neville

Smart cross this time from neville, this is looking like it has all the signs of a top performance. Dictating posession and taking the game to Celtic.

berbatov is looking to dictate play from deep and so far he's doing a great job of it.

Celtic have their first spell of possesion, a ball is played forward and Evans deals with it nicely. John O'Shea completely fools McGeady with a great turn and clears.

Celtic are coming into the game but our defence looks assured. O'Shea just twisted Aiden "overrated" Mcgeady

Aiden McGeady forces a save from Van Der Sar, cutting inside and hitting a good shot towards the bottom right corner of the goal. Celtic win a corner from it but Nakamura hits it straight out.

Ok my potshot at McGeady almost came back to bite me in the arse. Smart stop there by VDS

Celtic have a corner which is wasted.

Arrghh, great run there by Neville, his cross lets him down with our players running into the box.

Good thing to see that Neviller's back.

A counter attack for United ends in Wayne Rooney winning a corner after a cross is blocked. The corner comes back out and Evans gets the ball, his cross goes out of play.

Corner to United, Rooney should have taken a shot there.

Cleared by Celtic but retrieved by Evans whose cross is over the bar. We should have had another corner.

Ronaldo and Nani seem to have switched wings
