MLS All-Stars v Manchester United - Pre-Season Tour

Game kick off at 7:30 PM Central Time (Houston time) - 1:30 AM in UK

Wife just called as she drove by the stadium and people are already there (parking opened at 3 PM). I know there was some pre-game activities in one of the lots and the gates into the stadium don't open till 6.

Looking forward to this game, actually. I was a bit concerned by the KC Wizards game, even with it being pre-season. I know it's about getting back to fitness (as well as marketing in the US, more cynically), but we were really lacklustre, gave the ball away a lot, and quite a lot of the younger lads who I'd have expected to give their all to show what they can give to the first team, looked quite shaky. Hopefully it's just a one off, but was a disappointing performance - even Paddy Crerand slagged the side off.

Btw, they were saying on SSN earlier that Hernandez is pretty much a cert to play. Can anyone confirm this, or was it just their way of drumming up interest? (24 hour news spawns a lot of non-stories ofc).

Hernandez will be a second half sub according to MUTV

I was there for the Mexico - Angola match before the World Cup, and it was absolutely packed. Probably took us 45 mins to get to the Fiesta store after turning off Old Spanish. Think it's gonna be even more crowded tonight? Is the match sold out?

Cheers mate. :) There's a lot of media talk about how he'll slot in, because of the fact we've looked sluggish up front the last couple of games, so hopefully the pressure won't get to him. He showed what a class player he was during the WC though, so I'm really excited to see how he does tonight.

I think the kickoff is going to be at the top of the hour as it is an allstar game, so the standard ten minute pregame delay will probably be longer

In case you are interested to know... and in case that's not mentioned yet...

ManUtd.com's Gemma Thompson reports in her blog:

14:30 Just had confirmation that tonight's match is a sell-out - tickets have been purchased in 41 states and five countries. Should be a great atmosphere with over 70,000 fans packed inside the Reliant Stadium.

It's going to be some game!

From the first page

Alright for people who keep complaining about acronyms and time zones and whatnot:

Australia Eastern: Thursday - 10:30am
India: Thursday - 6:00am
Central European Summer Time: Thursday - 2:30am
British Summer Time: Thursday - 1:30am

NA Eastern: Wednesday - 8:30pm
NA Central: Wednesday - 7:30pm
NA Mountain: Wednesday - 6:30pm
NA Pacific: Wednesday - 5:30pm

Let me know if you have any requested time zones or if I botched yours and you want to correct me.

Note: THESE ARE NOT KICKOFF TIMES. Like every other match on this tour, this match takes place on North American soil where we like to do our dainty little pregame festivities that include anthems and interviews and commentary and jets flying over the stadium and whatnot. If the very idea of tuning into a football game at the "scheduled time" and not seeing an immediate kickoff offends you, tune in roughly 10 to 15 minutes after the time listed above.

oh god is anyone watching this kuz and macheda interview

im in stitches

Jay-v you're getting too big for your boots, giving people useful advice in the mains now...you've just not got the rep for that.

Stick to the newbs.

But before the mains were the only place where I could give advice. Now people are telling me that I'm neglecting the mains while you're telling me to stay out of them.

Besides you have a handle on the noobs pretty well right now. I can afford some vacation time up here.

It will be 2:30 when it kicks off.I wonder if it's all worth seeing that I have to work tomorrow at 9 am

Hernandez debut, I guess it'll be worth waiting. I'm considering this myself as I'll have the same timeframe after FT and going to work..

I really shouldn't stay up to watch this. I feel like shit and have the runs, but I'm probably going too anyway. -_-

Will the match be available for download after you think?

I'm a bit confused. Does the game kick-off at 1.30am for us lot in the UK, or does coverage start from 1.30am?

SS are saying coverage starts, but could have sworn that was the KO.
