Has there ever been a performance where you haven't said: "For feck sake Nani" or there hasn't been a collective moan of annoyance when he's once again failed to put the fecking ball in the box?

My point is that I've never been so frustrated with any player in my life.

vrs arsenal in the cup he put in the performance of a lifetime - was immense

a few other games in his first season but since then he has been frustrating - thought he did ok tonight but should have been tougher against that muscleman fullback

He skinned an even more immobile version of Micah Richards tonight once or twice. Other than that he actually provided nothing.

Especially because we all know he has huge talent. But Jesus he pisses me off more times than not.

I said last season he would not get another chance pre Ronaldo leaving. His departure has given Nani another chance. If he does not take it this season that surely will be it for him.

Far too inconsistent and tonight he was dreadful

Bollocks.

He was very good tonight, showed a lot of class. Final ball wasn't great tonight but it's okay to have one match where it isn't. He's created a lot for us so far already this season.

Almost looks like a new player this season

How did he show any class? He was up against a massive lump of a full-back who up until 2008 had been playing in League One and still failed to deliver anything half decent.

I think the most telling signs was Fergie's expression after that shot that went into row Z. He just took off his glasses, rubbed his eyes and just said for feck sake.

Was dribbling the ball out of play, over hit crosses, slowed down play on multiple occasions and kept making the wrong decision, was chocking at one point, other than that, yes he showed alot of class.

I agree with this one.
Who promoted this clown anyway? As if we hadnt enough Nani threads already

Uh times when he held up the full back and turned him excellently. His general play was excellent, just his final ball was the problem. His touch allowed him to keep the ball and because he's good with both feet, even when he's double marked he can hit a cross with his left or right. Unfortunately today his delivery wasn't great.

He's pissed me off at least once in every game he's played. Tonight he pissed me off on multiple occasions.

The thing is, he played well. The good outweighed the bad. Which is the main thing really.

That sums it up pretty well.

Indeed. Nani is the type of player who can do 5 or 6 things in a row that pisses the shit out of everyone and then go and produce a bit of complete magic to make up for it.

He's been a lot better this season, anyone should be able to see that. He was our biggest threat tonight and yes, his final balls weren't great but he didn't exactly have a lot of crossing or passing options after the sending off

Honestly, Nani did look a class apart at times tonight. However when he got into dangerous positions his final ball was too often found wanting. Like i said this was a very strange game from our whole team. The early sending off left us isolated up front and all our attacking players had to increase their workrate.

It was pleasing to see how much he got the better of the opposition players around him. On another day he could have had a very influential game. But we had to show plenty of character tonight against the odds and Nani did that task well. All things considered, it was a decent contribution overall.

Good outweighing the bad is a good description of Nani anno 2009.

Pre 2009 it could very often be the opposite.

I hear ya Domzi.

He's just not as good as everyone thought him to be. It wouldn't surprise me if he were shipped out at the end of the season unless he makes a substantial improvement this season. I've not been impressed by him at all since he joined.

That's what most people forget...that we only had 10 men out there and still he was able to produce dangerous counter attacks and situations.
Still his final ball should have been better.

He's started out far better this season than last season. People on here are far too critical of the lad.

It wasn't his best game tonight, that much is true but I still think the lad will come good. He knows himself with the chances he'll get now what he has to do and he'll need to seriously start producing it this season consistently.

Your a joker!

ffs pal, up until the final ball he was a threat all game - took his man on multiple times and for me was our best attacking option

I have a new favourite phrase :lol::lol:

Yup. It's like people on here are afraid to have a go at a player just because someone will have a go at them. Nani, barring the odd screamer and an impressive performance against Arsenal has just been no where good enough for a United player.

He moved and created countless chances... untiiiiiiiiiiiiil the final ball.

Frustrating indeed

Let's be honest, it would be nigh on impossible for him to start this season as badly as he did last.

He's nowhere near a £17m player for me, and he isn't United quality. Fair's fair, he can take it past people, but if he can't deliver a decent ball (He maybe delivers 1 good cross for every 20), then there is no fecking point.

I'd like nothing more than to be proved wrong.

Have you even watched a game this season?

Better performance albeit with some frusterating results. Today the attack ran through him, meaning he was doing something good for everyone to collectively pass through him. He linked up well with Gaz and also remember, after the sending off, welbeck, one of gibson/carrick, owen making some late runs only to have one or two players to pick out and some tight areas to get the ball into.

I thought his wing play, which in the starting 11 would have given some great chances and he needs to still work on his crossing/decision making. The signs are there for me and I thought he was above average. I think with a full 11 out there, with owen and kiko along with some late mid runs we would be talking something decent about him. Interesting for me, on a somewhat related note, is that we seem very comfortable with only 10 men on the field. Spurs and now wolves with both games looking like its 11 v 11

His final ball always looks better when he's playing from the left, as he generally turns back and hits the ball with his right from a standing start. On the right when he's running full pelt he seems to struggle badly at times.

He's getting better overall though, even if he's incredibly infuriating at times.

Yeah, it's hardly a coincidence that his most dangerous crosses into the box came in the period of the game when he had more than a single short-arse striker to try and pick out.

I still dont think he will be shipped out this season. Hes making some progress which will buy him another year.

I still firmly believe he needs a run of games. We cant expect magic if he steps on the pitch once every three weeks. You can argue he needs to do something to impress fergie but let him find his feet. I just worry with Giggs playing out of his mind, valencia needing games to blend he wont get those minutes.

Yeah, it's hardly a coincidence that his most dangerous crosses into the box when he had more than a single short-arse striker to try and pick out.

I remember a number of occasions where we've had Rooney and Berbatov on the pitch in the box and he's still failed to deliver anything decent. It's not just the fans that get frustrated at him, the players do as well. The amount of times you see Rooney and Berbatov throwing their hands in the air after they've worked their arses off running into the box and Nani tries to be a show pony with his little flicks and ball rolls and by the time he's actually looked up and gone to cross it he's either dispossessed, hammered the ball against the nearest defender or done an ineffectual cross to the near post.

I thought he was very good.

Would you not prefer Nani's performance tonight, rather than Park/Fletcher/Anderson even Valencia on the wing. He can do things that no other player of ours can.

He was our out ball most of the time, his control was immense, without him, it would have been painful to watch, with most of our balls going long.
