Neymar

He performed a piece of skill on Friday that left me giggling like a little girl. Back to goal, defender on his arse and he receives the ball at a fast speed. Holding the defender off, he gently flicked his left foot towards the ball, caressed it at 90 degrees away from the defender and towards the goal, and he was gone. The defender hadn't a fecking clue what happened.

The most impressive thing for me was that Neymar, his teammates and the Nou Camp crowd continued on as if this was standard procedure. Mental.

Not seen much of him but he looks both quality and still quite raw (.understandably) but surprisingly contrary to popular perception quite the team man.

He is capable of emulating Ronaldinho's brilliance on the ball and that's quite something. Top, top talent.

Way too premature to say that IMO. He's looked good on the ball. Ribery is a more apt comparison for right now (in terms of ability not performances). Ronaldinho was something else. Long way to show that kind of class.

sounds like someone has a mancrush there alright

twit twoo

He's not Robinho and will become an even better player. The stupid thing about the Robinho comparison was that Neymar's associative play was the fundamental difference between the two. He wasn't going to look out of place because he's not as selfish as made out to be. I said it earlier in the season and I still stand by what I said: Neymar's been better than Messi so far. I think that matters to a certain extent because he's not gone quiet when Messi hasn't been available, or been able to perform well. Trying to destroy the low-blOock in the last game, for example - he nutmegged two players with a perfect pass. On a different note, his shooting technique is so good - his accuracy is phenomenal IMO. Only "concern" at the moment is lack of goals, but 3 goals and 8 assists - I think it is - in La Liga is a fantastic start.

Hes going to be a far better player, and have a far better career than Robinho IMO. He's already scored more international goals despite Robinho being 8 years older!

If he is no more than merely good on the ball, then most Unted players must be really poor on the ball. Technically wise, Neymar is a different class even to some of our best attackers.

It's not really premature if someone thinks Neymar is 'capable' of emulating Ronaldinhos brilliance in the ball, he certainly has the skills!

I then compared him Ribery who is a great footballer to be compared to for now.

I haven't seen that much of neymar to be honest but I'd be wary of talking about ronaldhinioesque potential.

Fair enough if you feel that's the case. I've not seen all that much. Like I said, his technical football has been impressive from what I've seen but more importantly he looks quote selfless and as much a creator as an individualistic player.

For his first few months in European football, Neymar has done really well. The way he just became a typical Barca player while bringing his natural flair has been great to watch as a neutral.

He's been better than Messi so far in terms of form, though I think Ronaldo has been the best player in la liga this season. Still both Neymar and Ronaldo will have no chance of a Balon D'or because Messi will win it, even if 2013 was nowhere near his best year compared to 2012. He's had a good 6 months, and a bad 6 months (for him of course) mostly injury, but it impacted on his form.

Not a chance... There are plenty who come before Cristiano (and Messi since he re-injured himself) this season so far. Most notably Diego Costa, but certainly also Koke, Cani and Rakitic. Neymar has really turned on recently so he could be on his way to joining that list pretty soon, dito for Griezmann. At the other end, Valdés and Diego López in goal have been equally important to their team's victories as Messi and C. Ronaldo IMO.

Thé stand-out player of the first three months of the season has to be the aforementioned Diego Costa though, he's been nigh on unstoppable so far.

This I agree with. I have mentioned it before about Costa's goal per game ratio only being 0.29 before this season started, and we thought that Athletico Madrid might suffer because Falcao left for Monaco. However, he has done really well, and dare I say it, but for someone who has only upped his 0.29 to 0.34 so far, he is clearly the best player in la liga before Neymar, Messi and Ronaldo. He has had to a great deal of hard graft and for me, the turning point in his career was to make Pepe and Ramos earn their crust on that fateful night in the Madrid derby. I have never seen a player fight fire with fire before and he really did unsettle them a great deal. The fact is that so many players are so scared because they do not know what is going to happen to them against those two. However, Costa proved that if you can get under their skin, it makes their defence vulnerable. Such a brilliant player and I hope he goes on to be topscorer in la liga, because he has deserved it so far over Neymar, Messi and Ronaldo.

and he also loves to throw his own spit into defenders faces.

Didn't Messi actually spit in someone's face? I believe he did. Cesc Fabregas has got history for spitting at Phil Brown, Frank Rijkaard, Fabien Barthez who didn't spit in a players face but a match official, Totti, Frei (when he spat at Gerrard) even our very own Ronaldo spat at Savage, so Costa is not on his own as far as spitting is concerned.

who was the spanish player than spat during the open top bus parade and said it was only a joke?

Sky Sports gimpage-a-trois were nauseatingly wanking over a perfectly average 3rd goal where he went past one player and got lucky even doing that. Typical Neymar hype bullshit.

2nd goal was good. Celtic are shite. Bale will outperform him.

Whoever has him on Fantasy draft team is lucky and should win the damn thing.

Best performance I've seen from anyone this season. Absolutely imperious in every sense of the world.

That step over, nutmeg and goal was filthy enough to force me into the shower. Brilliant stuff.

plenty of wanking over Bale's goals against cannon fodder too.

For his first season in Europe and while not being in optimal physical condition, what Neymar has been doing is extremely impressive. These are the facts that cannot be denied.

In fairness Bale is a 3 years older than him, practically complete in his development. Question is, will bale outperform a 24 year old Neymar?

he won't outperform the current Neymar either.

Psh. It was a lovely piece of skill.

Agreed. It's worth remembering that Celtic play in a league on a par with the Skrill Conference, so I would expect a £57m player to be able to beat a man. Second was decent but he fell over doing that.

He's been Barca's best player so far bar arguably Messi. That fact alone speaks volumes about the level of his performances this season. Given tnat it is his first in Europe, he's been fantastic.

Celtic have been notoriously tough for Barcelona and are a decent team in Europe. Alot of bullshit on this thread when it comes to Neymar.

Marked his arrival to Europe with style

Monkeyface won't

The kid is a joy to watch.

Give me ball roll, a step over and a nutmeg anyday of the week before a goal

If that was Kagawa who did that we would be ******* over it for weeks let's be honest.
