You are all ignoring the most interesting part.

"What Neymar generates for Santos over all the years he is here would more than compensate for him leaving for free.

Neymar will be in charge of his own future in 2014."

This sounds like he is going for free when his contract ends in 2014.

As I said, his contract situation is kinda suspicious.

Neymar is only 20. Until he adapts to Europe, La Liga and the Barcelona system in particular he can be a squad player and get into the first team in 2 years time when Villa will slowly step down and become a squad player. If it was up to me I'd even put Neymar straight into Barca B in his first year.

No way a player of his ilk's going to sign for Barca and not expect to play.

He's a massive star in Brazil, its not like signing a young lad for a few million and giving him time to aclimatise. Besides, Brazil to Spain is hardly a million miles away.

Villa on the other hand has been shunted wide to accomodate Messi centrally, and for a club with some money issues is probably one of the more likely assets they could lose but generate a decent fee for.

Doesn't really matter how big a star he thinks he is, the bottom line is if he wants to play for Barca then he has to fit into their style of play, and that surely will take a bit of time.

Is he as big a star as Fabregas was when he moved to Barca? Fabregas came from their system and knew what was expected and even he has had to spend more time on the bench than he probably would have at most other clubs. Neymar is class, but if he really wants to go to Barca, he will need a period of time to find his place in their system, and that will mean time on the bench. If his ego won't allow that, then maybe he should think about joining another club.

Yes he is. He is practically a god in Brazil, Fabregas was never that in England, nevermind Spain.

I do think neymar will have to work hard to break into Barca 11 whenever he goes and I don't think he would go all whiny if he is benched.

What I am interested regarding Barcelona is to see how their new manager approaches the game, Guardiola I believed was responsible to increasing the tactical ability of his players as individuals and Barcelona as a team which imo is the toughest thing as a coach(coach is not necessarily whole as a manager though), how will Barcelona continue will be quite interesting.Anyway all this is not related to Neymar so I will stop about this.

I don't think he will go for free though, I mean that is just ridiculous on Santos's part, they had Neymar tied up for 2015 and then according to the new contract its 2014 so Santos letting him go for free is kinda stupid.

2016 even, not 2015.

It's only speculation on my part but this is another possibilty. In his previous contract he had a buyout clause. € 40 million if I'm not mistaken. Now Neymar is obviously a highly marketable player as the Santos president himself said:

"What Neymar generates for Santos over all the years he is here would more than compensate for him leaving for free."

So maybe a deal has been arranged between Barcelona and Santos that Barcelona will not activate that € 40 million clause and let him stay in Brazil for a few more years until 2014 so he can "generate for Santos" and in return Barcelona get him for free.

Sounds ridiculous, I know, but why else would the Santos president talk about him leaving for free and Neymar staying until 2014 (when his contract simply runs out and Santos don't get a penny)?

I dont think he literally meant "we will let neymar leave for free".

What he was saying was that Neymars draw will provide such a huge amount of money, that it will dwarf whatever "transfer fee" they get offered.

They will probably make £80m in advertisement / sponsorship rather than selling early for £40M this year... thats my jist anyway.

Nobody in there right minds would agree a deal this early, and then just let him leave because barca want him

Do people really rate him because of his football inteligence? :wenger:

I really hope he signs soon for some european club, it will be joy watching 30-40 million paid clown.

Clown?

go back to watching something you understand like aquatic gymnastics

Clowns are comic performers stereotypically characterized by the grotesque image of the circus clown's colored wigs, stylistic makeup, outlandish costumes..

Neymar is a clown(or a showman), nothing more.

As for aquatic gymanstic, unfortunataly, I am not into that.

Yes he is. He is practically a god in Brazil, Fabregas was never that in England, nevermind Spain.

The better question would have been "Is he as good as Fabregas was when he moved to Barca?" and then the answer would be no.Even a big player like Thierry Henry had to alter his usual football in order to fit in the Barca system

If you think Neymar is nothing more than a clown then it would be best you took an interest in aquatic gymnastics....

Please tell us why you think he is just a "clown".

He is far far from somebody like quaresma, who just skills for fun.

Neymar is a match winner and a game turner, if you cannot see that then you are blinded by your hatred of skilled footballers.

No doubt you thought C.Ronaldo was a "clown" too when he first joined right :smirk:

not when lucas is going for 45 million euro.

He would have moved for less though. PSG just wanted to feck us over by biddin more than we can afford to.

40 million would be about the price his club would accept I assume. Of course the moment a club goes in for him there will be a huge bidding war with oil clubs bidding insane amounts for him.

Don't know if I'm in the mood for dealing with Wagner Ribeiro again. Looks like he just fecked us over for his percentage. His club value him around the 50 millon mark.

He is match winner in brazilian shitty league, Ronaldo won matches in best league in the world, and that's a big difference. ;)

You dont think at 20 years of age Neymar is on the same level ronaldo was at his age?

Neymar is a first choice player for the brazil national squad, i think its clear there is more substance than just clowning around.

Wasn't Ronaldo Portugal's best player at the Euros at the age of 18 or 19?

I have barely seen any of Neymar but is he as raw as he looked the other day? He reminded me of a young Nani more than anything else. Also from that viewing alone (hence maybe not the best indicator) he looks like he's far far away from being ready for the Barcelona system.

IMO he isn't even close to Ronaldo's level at that age. But, it's hard to compare, since Neymar is playing in shit league where every second player looks like messi.

So what if he is their first choice? That proves what exactly? Juan is also their first choice, so is sandro, romulo, damiao, and probably none of them would be starters for any of top5 premier league club for example, or any other big club.

Playing for brazil national team(in last few years) doesn't make you a world beater, especially in last few years. Their national team is mediocre in last few years. People often say brazil and still think they are strong as they were in times when Ronaldo, cafu, carlos and others played. They aren't half strong as they used to be, and still he doesn't even look like Brazil's best young player, nevermind world's best young player.

Current generation of Brazil national team players may not be as good as the famous bunch that won the World Cup ten years ago, but it doesn't mean that players like Neymar aren't top quality.

Also, he's clearly their most talented player. Maybe not consistent enough yet, but he's a brilliant footballer, no doubt about it.

Wouldn't bother arguing with Amar. I'll bookmark the thread though. Although people with such levels of spasticness tend to be perma-banned before their idiotic opinions can be re-visited a couple years later.

Oh dear.....

That clown make in a week what you probably make in a year...

I wish I'm that clown.

Seriously, this is hillarious, please tell me you're just fishing

Santos president Luis Alvaro believes that Neymar can now be deemed "priceless" following Lucas Moura's €45 million switch to Paris Saint-Germain.

PSG spent big on the Brazilian starlet earlier this week but Alvaro is of the opinion that Neymar is worth far more than Lucas, and says he wouldn't even be able to put a price on his talented forward.

"I am adamant in saying that Neymar is priceless," Alvaro told Lance. "Millions and millions of euro, dollars and reais could not pay for him. He is a unique player, he's distinguished, he is the great idol of Brazilian football, for whom it is impossible to negotiate for.

"I also understand that the amount spent for Lucas is deserved. Both are players who represent a new stage of Brazilian football. Along with [Leandro] Damiao, they are impressing the world."

Neymar signed a new contract with Santos in December 2011, which includes a buy-out clause of £57 million. Real Madrid and Barcelona have been tipped to make a move for the Brazil international, but Santos want to keep hold of him until the new deal expires in 2014 at least.

"I do not regret anything," Alvaro said. "On the contrary, I am even more convinced that the service paid to the history of Santos is priceless. We are seeing the affection of the fans, how important it was for the young fans to see Neymar remain at the (Vila) Belmiro. I am privileged to have secured Neymar until 2014, at the end of his contract."

Alvaro is also pleased that Lucas has departed Brazilian football for France: "Sao Paulo has lost a player who always took great risks against Santos. His trip to Europe is a relief."

I really wouldn't be surprised if Madrid did pay the £57m at some point.

Neither would I, but isn't he nailed on for Barcelona or have I invented that? I'm sure I remember one of the Cules on this forum talking about it as if it's a done deal after the 2014 World Cup.

How do you know Neymar won't?

I'm not going to jump on any bandwagons as I've only seen him at the Olympics but he looks a class act, and clearly has huge potential. Anyone with half a brain can see that.

I think you can also add that he is more than proven on the international level and is clearly the top young player in the world right now. There is no denying his talent but with the marker on transfer fees put down by the Lucas saga, how much is Neymar worth now?

Just ridiculous how the transfer market has gotten out of hand.

I don't know, but I am assuming because most of his precursor floped. Just like most of you are assuming he will be great in Europe.

Of course he has great potential, I am not crazy to deny that, but there are thousands of players in brazil with great potential, but they would never succed in europe. Their defences are ridiculous, it's enough to watch one game to realize the strenght of their league.

What Neymar has to do with me? By that, 99% of us couldn't refer any negative critic to any player in the world because they make in a week more than we make in a year. This is football forum, where we are stating our opinions on players, and if you don't like that, than don't read it.

What a fool. That kind of behavior will not be tolerated by any club outside of Brazil. He'll be fat and unemployed like Fat Ronaldo and Adriano within 7 years.
