How did he recover so fast?
Its happened all the great goal scorers at some point, its easier happen than you think, its even happened people a yard or too closer. They try side foot it in but the ball bounces and catches the top of the boot. One thing I never understood is why they don't just play it safe in those positions and drive their laces through the ball.
Not to sound rude but, Do you play football? How could he have adjusted his body there to 'put his laces thought the ball?
Like you said, these things happen more often than not because the ball bounces and it hits the player on the wrong part of his foot. Happens to everyone.
His injury was over-ratedHow did he recover so fast?
Yes I do but what has that got to do with what I said? His body is already in a position where he can adjust in time but he went with the side foot instead, if he leaned a bit more to his right he could have struck it extremely sweet with his laces on his left foot.
I asked because what you said doesn't make any sense, No player would ever do that. Adjusting to hit the ball there, that quick with the laces not only is unnatural but also has a higher probability of missing the ball. For example, how often do you see people playing pick in the middle and using the lace part to pass the ball?
1st captain? Ahead of Thiago Silva?Dunga has also confirmed him as Brazil's new captain, strangely enough.
Yep. It's interesting how many national teams these days have their talismanic forward as their captain. Ronaldo, Messi, Ibrahimovic, RVP, and now Rooney and Neymar. The cynic in me believes the sponsors have played a part in this.1st captain? Ahead of Thiago Silva?
Well he probably thought if Ronaldo and Messi can captain their countries then why not Neymar.
For Portugal this might be true, for Argentina however Mascherano or even Zabaleta could be better candidates. The less said about England the better.Well, in some of those cases, it's understandable as there aren't many other candidates. With Neymar, it seems more as if all of Brazil has abandoned its resplendent football history and adopted a small-minded mentality of just worshipping one player on the team and ignoring the rest.
That's not true though, especially not for your club, last season. Although we can give him the benefit of the doubt - new league, new team, tons of off field issues (FCB president, transfer fee etc).He simply delivers. Grew up on me so fast that I forgot I ever disliked him.

To be fair there is no such thing as copa america qualifiers. But your point remains.28 of his 40 goals have come in friendlies because he didn't play in the 2011 copa america qualifiers (just the tournament) and Brazil didn't need to qualify for the world cup. 14 of those goals have come against China, Japan (6 in 2 matches), Iraq, S.Africa and Panama. In the last few years, Brazil have been playing whoever they can, wherever they can, to reap in the cash and keep their profile up. So much of it has been aginst piss poor teams or under strength opposition.
Make of it what you will; but it looks a pretty deceptive, puffed up record to me.

As a comparison if 28 of 40 for Neymar are in friendlies, that's 70% of his goals for the national team.
Ronaldo's rate for Brazil was 30% (19 of 62) in friendlies.
I often feel like friendly caps and goals shouldn't really count.

Jesus, talk about belittling someone's achievements at the age of 22. He comes into one, if not the worst Brazil side in two decades with laughable talent compared to years gone past, and he has reached 40 goals which is incredible, not even to forget the fact that Brazil didn't have World cup qualifiers this tournament. He is a very talented fecker, I'll give him that.
Uh, not to piss all over your point or anything but it's more likely because of this that he's scored so many goals already... they did play friendlies in the meanwhile you know? Nonetheless, 40 international goals at age 22 is ridiculous whatever way you dress it up.
Yeah I completely agree with you. The funny thing is though, even though he played more friendlies than the norm, the teams he scored against were mostly in or near the top 20 in the world; Argentina, Colombia, Chile and Portugal are some of the teams he scored against over the past 2 years of friendlies, which are much harder than the World Cup quali teams he would usually face. Also, the extra friendlies he did play only adds up to a handful more games than what the other South American teams played before the World Cup, if you combine their qualification games with their friendlies.
For sureStill the most pathetic, over-glorified little cnut in contemporary football.
When you look at his Confederation Cup & World Cup exploits it doesn't appear that it will be that deceptive though. He hasn't played an enormity of competitive games, yet still delivers when it counts.28 of his 40 goals have come in friendlies because he didn't play in the 2011 copa america qualifiers (just the tournament) and Brazil didn't need to qualify for the world cup. 14 of those goals have come against China, Japan (6 in 2 matches), Iraq, S.Africa and Panama. As a comparison, how many goals have Messi and Ronaldo scored for the NT at their respective age?
