Cleveland would be foolish to spend a top pick on a running back. Look at the running backs in the league right now who were drafted outside the first round:

Leveon Bell (2nd)
David Johnson (3rd)
Alvin Kamara (3rd)
Kareem Hunt (3rd)
Dion Lewis (5th)
Jordan Howard (5th)
Devonta Freeman (4th)
Derrick Henry (2nd)
Jay Ajayi (5th)
Dalvin Cook (2nd)
CJ Anderson (undrafted)
Ty Montgomery (3rd)

Or he could hit the ground running like Zeke Elliott who went first three .

Browns would be insane not to take Barkley first you have one top class RB and four or five QBs .

You do what you can to get both positions

The Browns definitely need a top running back so it makes perfect sense to go with Barkley. They already have their QB with Taylor and whoever they draft at #4. They already have Landry through yesterday's trade, and have some good receiving talent in Njoku and Duke Johnson out of the backfield. Therefore the only final missing piece in the puzzle will be a top RB who can rush for 1200 or more yards. That will give them a fairly potent offense capable of winning 8 games next year.

the browns have more needs than just QB and RB. its not like filling those spots will make them a playoff team

And which ones were drafted in 1st round?

I'm looking at some past drafts and oh wooow did the Raiders manage to mess up their first overall pick in 2007.

And which ones were drafted in 1st round?

Some successes like Gordon and Gurley, some TBDs like Fournette and Mccaffrey but also quite a few guys like David Wilson, Trent Richardson, Ryan Matthews, Jahvid Best, Doug Martin, Donald Brown, Knowshon Moreno and Beanie Wells.

Look at the 2008 first round running back class and tell me that type of production couldn't have been found in later rounds.

Jonathan Stewart
Darren McFadden
Felix Jones
Radhard Mendenhall
Chris Johnson

A total of 4 Pro Bowls and 1 All Pro season from those 5 guys and the best one was the last picked.

That would be an amazing season for them Really excited to see Garrett next season too but somehow as much as their fans deserve a good season would anyone really be surprised if they lost every game again?

Some things are just not meant to be

Boom

He's going to be playing a few minutes away from where he went to college.

There goes his jersey into the bin
Don't think I'll throw mine away but definitely going to have to get a new jersey. Either that or I just drink the bottle of bleach, it's pretty tempting right now.

Niners are going to be an interesting team to keep an eye on this year.
Oh hell yes!

I was unsure on the Sherman deal when i read the rumours yesterday but i trust Lynch and Shanahans judgement. I am really excited and it is genuine expectatiom and not just the usual blind optimism.

Will Rueben Foster play next season?

Great acquisition by the Niners.

Bills have loads of draft picks, i think 6 in top 3 rounds including two 1st round picks. Guaranteed to trade up to grab a Qb.

They are in a similar position now (ironically) to the Browns in terms of QB. They are going to have to trade for an experienced QB as well as probably draft another since their QB depth chart looks horrible at the moment. They should be able to snag someone like Bradford for a lower round picks, especially since the Vikings may way to get rid of one of their QBs, and then also take someone like Mason Rudolph in the first round this year. Rudolph and Kurt Benkert could well be the sleepers in this year's draft.

Plenty of free agent QBs to act as a bridge. Bradford being one, Bridgewater, Keenum, Mcown, McCarron.

Makes sense for Bills to sign a free agent and draft a QB in first round.

Not sure what the Browns OL looks like at the moment or who is the highest rated OLman in the draft, but perhaps the Browns may want to stock some talent in there for the passing and running game. Barkley may become a game-changer at the NFL level but he'll need competent blockers to make said impact (like Elliott has the fortune of running behind).

They may be better off drafting a QB #1 then an OG/OT #4 and find a decent RB in rd 2, perhaps Sony Michel is there in rd 2.

Alternative at #4 would be an impact defensive player, or perhaps a trade to a team wanting a QB/other player.

They had a respectably rated O-Line coming into last year - https://www.profootballfocus.com/ne...nsive-line-units-heading-into-the-2017-season

Problem is they had an inexperienced and highly inaccurate QB, anemic running game, and even worse passing game where their leading receiver was a RB.

What do you all think will happen with Le'veon Bell?

Steelers fan at my office is convinced he'll not be with them when play starts.

I think they will try their hardest to keep him until Ben retires. Otherwise, in the absence of a top RB to help propel them to another SB, it would be rather pointless for Ben to not retire now.

Quite a few teams making some good moves in the market. Hopefully an exciting season ahead.

Niners are definitely getting the better player in this one. Talib is nearing retirement age whereas Sherman still has about 3-4 years of top level football left imo.

Talib isn't showing any signs of slowing down, he's absolutely awesome still. So is Sherman, obviously, but coming off two achilles surgeries there's some question there of how he'll fare.

Only reason Talib was traded was Denver having 3 top level and expensive corners.

Only negative re Talib is penalties as he's a bit of a nutter. Not sure what Sherman is like on that front?

Bit of an understatement that  - he's a fantastic CB but he can be a liability with his decisions on & off the field.

Sherman comes across as an intelligent person. He's one of my favourite players in the league.

Talib is an intelligent player who clearly knows what he's doing. Sherman for me, is still one of the top 5 corners in the game. Most of these guys are still living off the legends of what they did 3-5 years ago and I'm expecting a new crop of CBs to emerge as the best in the league this year. For me, AJ Bouye is probably one of the best in the business right now.

Sherman is great

Nelson from ND is the highest rated, and easily one of the safest high picks this year. He is an OG though, so won't go in the top 3.

My dream scenario is Denver taking him and Baker going on a slide and falling far enough to nab him later.
