Would I enjoy Bioshock Collection? It's only £8 on Switch. But I usually like my games to be "pick up and play" types as I play in small bursts...
It is not a pick up and play game. Great series but you need to spend some time with it and understand what is going on which is hard when you’re playing in short bursts only.Would I enjoy Bioshock Collection? It's only £8 on Switch. Fair enough. Might give it a pass then. Thank you mate.It is not a pick up and play game. Great series but you need to spend some time with it and understand what is going on which is hard when you’re playing in short bursts only.

I have advance wars. Maybe I'll give that a go after I finish Blasphemous. There are dozens of better pick up and play games for Switch indeed. It’s a machine that’s been made for this to be fair.
Going strong through first Advance Wars, already on mission 15 out of 23 I believe. I will probably aim to finish it in time to give Mario Odyssey another playthrough before inevitably immersing into TOTK for the next two months or so… planning to finally give Xenoblade a shot after this, possibly starting with 3 (as I believe there aren’t major plot connections).
How I wish Nintendo made their next console simply a Switch that can play multiplatform games properly. Being able to play NBA 2K in 60 frames would basically remove any need for any other consoles for me.

Microsoft releasing broken 30fps pieces of shite on their powerful hardware while the game of the year is about to come out on something as powerful as an Xbox 360. Wild.
It's a medieval metroidvania game. It's decent, the combat is really fun, it looks beautiful and the bosses are amazing. I'm struggling with the story because I can't understand the weird medieval dialect and I'm not finding it too difficult as I've levelled up since playing Hollow Knight, Celeste & Cuphead... With that said, I picked it up for £6 and it's been great value! You should check a review of it on YouTube. What is Blasphemous and is it good?

Feel like you have been misinformed. Don't start Xenoblade with number 3. Whilst the story is somewhat stand alone you will be missing a big chunk of info and connection starting with 3.
It also helps that 1 is considered the best in the series and because its a true remake, all the games are technically on par with eachother in terms of graphics and QoL.
Thanks. I will start with 1 then, when I do (probably won’t be for a while as I expect Zelda to be absolutely massive).
They truly are great games. My favourite series on switch to hopefully you will enjoy when you get to them.
Have the collectors edition of Zelda TOTK arriving for release day but never actually finished the first game. Need to restart BOTW and complete first.
I'm in my 3rd go at playing it, get through a chunk of the game then stop each time, then pick up where I left off.... Currently at volcano summit. The game really drags on, super demotivating reading I have to revisit all the places yet againStruggling to finish Skyward Sword. Have enjoyed it for the most part but stupidly linear and the repetition of revisiting the same places has got stale. Thought I’d reached the end game when I collected the sword upgrades but now I have to revisit each place again to collect some stupid tadstones? Frustrating and just feels like complete filler.
worst Zelda game I’ve played - which is annoying as it means @Vidyoyo was right.
I have decided to get back into Dead Cells to pass time before Zelda. Any tips on how to play it as I don’t seem to have any grasp of what I’m doing? Is my character supposed to get stronger with every go? I found Hades a bit more intuitive (and absolutely adored it).
Dead cells is the better game for me. I enjoyed Hades, but the layout/combat and platforming in DC just worked better for me.
It's the same type of game as Hades, in that every run you get a bit stronger. You kill enemies, they drop those glowing orbs (cells) and then you use them to unlock the weapons/powers and new abilities as you play. You then unlock new paths and all that. It has a ton more freedom with character builds, but as with all these vania/roguelites, you have to earn it the hard way
Starting tips would be learn the movement, especially getting used to the ground pound. Movement is just as key to getting through a level as fighting. Explore everywhere you can (other areas open up to you as you progress) and get the treasures. When you beat a level and get to spend cells, focus primarily on extra potions first and then go with starter weapons. Don't be scared to not use a shield, although there are so many and they are great in their own right (especially with parry) it pays tribute to Dark Souls by making sure as many of the weapons are as viable as possible. Those scrolls where you can pick a power up via different colours (green, purple and red), pay attention to the loadout you have/want and don't just necessarily spam the one that gives most health. There's tons more, but no need to overwhelm at first, and it becomes way more intuitive as you progress and it clocks.
Also the DLCs (both paid and free) and generally fantastic additions if you like the base game.
Thanks, very useful. How do I start the level with something stronger than the default sword, and in general what I am supposed to in between deaths? Like upgrade in a shop? Do I actually do anything with the jars that are hanging off the ceiling at the beginning?
A 2D metroidvania/Soulslike. I'd call it pretty good but not great. As a metroidvania, it's not as good as something like Guacamelee for me, while as a Soulslike, I'd put this below Salt and Sanctuary. What is Blasphemous and is it good?
You spend the "cells" at the end of every level. It takes a certain amount of them to unlock the powers/weapons/utilities you need. During the levels you'll kill enemies and find blueprints for weapons, you use the cells on them too.
At first you start with default shield/sword (I can't remember if the bow is up top, but if you drop under the starting bit you'll see bits on the wall you can scratch and the one on the right gives a bow iirc). As you unlock weapons with the cells, it will start randomising those starting weapons (I think you have to unlock that with cells too IIRC). As you play through the levels you'll find more weapons and traps/grenades to use, eventually shops to buy new stuff and you can also unlock the ability to scrap weapons you don't want for money.
So cells are to permanantly unlock new weapons/abilities to find across all runs (which you do at the end of every level), and money is for the various shops you will find dotted around and to upgrade the weapons on you for that run only.
The jars are cosmetic to show off what you've unlocked, a completion thing. You'll also start finding new costumes and all the usual stuff like that.
I assume you haven't got out of the first area yet? It will become more clear as you bump into the characters that explain this and when you start spending them![]()
I’ve barely played it. Bought it like a year ago on sale but then it took backseat to other games. Now I need something to kill time before Zelda which will inevitably become the only game I really play for the next two months. I started Astral Chain and loved it (it even looks great on TV despite Switch having almost no power) but it’s a 20-hour game and I just won’t finish it. I’m deep into Advance Wars remake but need something a little different to play in-between missions as I find myself tired after 2-3 rounds of AW, especially deeper into the game when they become quite difficult.
I was looking into this... Any good?A 2D metroidvania/Soulslike. I'd call it pretty good but not great. As a metroidvania, it's not as good as something like Guacamelee for me, while as a Soulslike, I'd put this below Salt and Sanctuary.
The pixel art is fantastic though, sort of Spanish inquisition style which gives it a dark, oppressive and often gruesome aesthetic and atmosphere. If you're into that sort of thing, it doesn't get any better than this.
I can't get into Xenoblade 3. They really went too overboard with all the silly tropes for my tastes. Maybe Im just getting old...There are dozens of better pick up and play games for Switch indeed. It’s a machine that’s been made for this to be fair.

I couldn't really get into Dead Cells as it seemed like I reached a point where I couldn't quite collect enough cells to upgrade anything in between runs. But maybe I was just a bit shit at it.Yeah I feel that.
Dead Cells isn't as complicated as it looks and you can pick it up and drop it due to the nature of the runs too. Stick with it and you'll soon realise it makes sense and isn't as difficult as it seems at first.
Roll on Zelda!

I've been meaning to give it another go as I've noticed all the DLC coming out and I generally like roguelites, plus I even liked picking up some of the lore every now and then. Anyway, we'll see if I can find the time to do it. I sometimes wish I had as much time to game as when I was a teenager and I don't even have kids.I guess it depends on the balancing too and how far ago you last played it, they are always working on it.
But in general I've never noticed a problem from launch, but I do run around clearing levels out and enjoy the gameplay so I don't find it a grind. But then I'll happily play most of it through with the starter weapons, so maybe I'm just a masochist![]()
Yeah I’ve been tempted to park it but I’m determined to see it through though I’m struggling to play more than 20 mins at a time, the last segment of the game has just ruined it for me. How many times does a hero need to prove himself!I'm in my 3rd go at playing it, get through a chunk of the game then stop each time, then pick up where I left off.... Currently at volcano summit. Please let me know how this is when you get to it. I have it on my watchlist.I won some small pocket money at a bookie yesterday and decided to spend it on Switch games... got Dredge, Paranormasight, Unavowed, Phoenix Wright Trilogy, No More Heroes, Takeover and Stanley Parable. This will get me through Summer I guess.
I re-downloaded Fire Emblem Three Houses as my last time I got stuck at Ch. 10 and by some strange coincidence I managed it at first attempt now.So will probably continue that for the moment. I don't remember the story very well but it's a Nintendo game so it probably doesn't matter anyway. I will read it up on Wiki.
Please let me know how this is when you get to it. I have it on my watchlist.
