Norwich City vs. Manchester United

Whatever was known before the game, don't we (we caf posters, that is) all know now that starting Giggs and Carrick unduly risks the prospect of defeat, even to a club like Norwich?

Whether Fergie knows this, now, remains to be seen.

I just can't wrap my head around the fact that we had 4 players who have trained their entire career to specialize as a central midfielder on the bench & Giggs got a starting spot?

As if by starting them we run the chance of losing...yeah.

The substitutions were awful. Bad timing, wrong players coming on/off.

Anderson and/or Cleverley should have started, with Hernandez and Giggs coming off the bench.

Norwich scored from a good cross (someone should tell Young and Valencia specially that it can increase the chances of scoring) and a great header. It was a good goal

I can't totally blame SAF. After he doesn't have the ball at his feet. I think if United drove down the wingers more they would have created more dangerous opportunities. Ashley Young needs to realise he has to be able to cross with his left foot if he play LW. I can give Valencia a pass because normally he dominates down his flank. Ashley Young continually looks to cut inside or cut back to cross with his right foot.

SAF needs to sort this out. his formation, his tactical, his players.
He has other players at his disposal.

It's not such a massive surprise that Norwich got the points yesterday - if we'd been playing QPR, I definitely would have been surprised (and annoyed).

We went to see Norwich quite a lot when we were living in Norfolk, they are a solid team and the replacement of Lambert with Hughton only caused a temporary blip in their performance, which they now seem to have recovered from. Looking at Villa's position now, it suggests that the Lambert effect was perhaps less to do with him and more to do with the players.

Ruddy is a first-class keeper, Holt is a real old-fashioned battling CF and the team only get overlooked because they are in Norfolk, rather than somewhere more fashionable. Every home game is a sell-out and you have to get really organised to get a match ticket (and that applied when they were in the Championship too). They also have a very strong travelling support.

They were comfortably mid-table all last season and finished in the top half. No mugs, IMO.

A very honest account of the team and it's exactly what Fergie was on about in the post match interview... We were beaten by a good team. We were not performing for sure, but credit where it is due.

Bit early to be to judgmental..
OK we have a weakness in midfield we all know that.
Some points that may have contributed to line up!
Cleverley played for England on Wednesday: Was he 100% fit
Anderson does not last 90 mins at present. )Been best if he had started and Giggs come on IMO)
Were players carrying knocks.
SAF thought the team he put out would do the job.
It clearly didn't. Lessons learnt ..I certainly hope so.
I like others can not understand Giggs starting especially in centre midfield, he is a legend and performances of late are tarnishing that reputation.
1 point behind so not all doom and gloom.
This defeat had been coming we have been getting away with it because of our strength up front, Rooney clearly would have made a difference.
Midfielder in January?? I hope so but won't be holding my breath.
Onwards and upwards:devil::devil::devil:

Interesting thing is that after Spurs game SAF decided to not start Giggs and Scholes anymore in PL and we won all the games and we shown some improvement in our game. Against Villa Scholes started and we played shit and it took a sensational performance from Chicha to win the game. Against Norwich Giggs started, we played shit and lose. No surprise there.

The subs were totally wrong, no question about it. Scholes came in and 5 min later Norwich had 64 percent of the ball. I think that is clear to see that Giggs, Scholes and Carrick together means that we will lose the midfield battle against every opponent.

The annoying thing for me is Norwich played without any real tempo as well. I didn't think they were pressing particularly well or passing it around well, we were just shite.

We lost to an average side on a pretty poor day for them. I've seen them much better in other matches.

But how is he supposed to get any fitness or form for that matter unless he gets a consistent run in the side?
