Norwich City vs. Manchester United

I can't totally blame SAF. After he doesn't have the ball at his feet. I think if United drove down the wingers more they would have created more dangerous opportunities. Ashley Young needs to realise he has to be able to cross with his left foot if he play LW. I can give Valencia a pass because normally he dominates down his flank. Ashley Young continually looks to cut inside or cut back to cross with his right foot.

of course Giggs could have produced something..and he almost did. But we need power and creativity in midfield. Having the best forwards in the world is not enough. You win or lose a match in midfield. And for whatever reason that is teh area we have not strengthened.

The midfield was almost non exisiting today, but it is not down to selection sorry to disappoint... This selection can easily beat Norwich on another day! Why cant people admit that the players let us down, let Fergie down?

I've been watching United for longer than you've been born , missy , so don't you bloody tell me how to support them !

Well said Erica, my mum has supported them for over 40 years and she is spitting mad. She loves Fergie, but he has a blind spot where Scholes and Giggs are concerned.

I don't know why SAF is so against throwing on Anderson or Cleverley to start off a match? Its clear to see we need players that close down and work hard in midfield. Especially on an away day like this. Did he actually think we could "pass" our way to a win with Giggs and Carrick in the middle?

Fergie has lost the plot again. I honestly look forward for his retirement

It's baffling. I no longer think Ferguson is the best manager for this club, and whilst I don't think he should go, its the first time I've ever thought that.

Serious questions about SAF. His decisions are getting worse and worse with age. Embarrassing against a very poor team. Giggs and Scholes need to retire and I'm afraid so does SAF

Hang your heads in shame, you plebs.

Just my opinions:

Giggs should seriously look at retiring.
We may get one more season from Scholes, but mostly from the bench.
Anderson and Cleverley need to be started (and trusted!) more.
Get the likes of Powell more involved.

I just think we simply cannot rely on the old guard anymore, we need to move forward.
Good post.

In the last 2 mins when we were desperate, who was there to make it look like we are in any urgency? Not the young lads! If Giggs scored or helped score from that last corner, you would have shut up!!

One good moment doesn't excuse the previous 89 minutes. I'd still say the same as what I'm saying now - he shouldn't start for us again, and should seriously look at retirement.

I love the man and all he's done for us, he's been incredible down the years but enough is enough.

I don't think they made us look poor. Its just that they showed how easy it is to defend against us when we don't select the proper midfield. Basically just parked the bus and said come and break us down. We couldn't.

I think its matches like these where Rooney and Kagawa are supposed to be the difference. We sure as shit can't keep focusing our attack on the right wing. Its just too predictable and we don't have someone named Ronaldo playing in that position anymore.

we have played against teams that park the bus all the time. we just did not have any idea how to break them up today.

Wingers go on and off form. But we cannot accept an ineffective midfield...which we could see today. Giggs and Carrick were both effectively holding midfielders today..and when we get the ball to the wingers?? they looked clueless.

Not sure why Young doesnt whip in the crosses anymore. Seems more than content to play with his back to goal and pass the ball square or backwards.

Almost as infuriating as losing 3 points, and the quality of football on display today, is performances like these giving the defeatist/super-negative/'I went to bed once I saw the lineup' lot grist for their mill.
FFS, lads! and ;)

its strange, because on paper this team should be so powerful...and yet its so dam average. Something isn't clicking at all this season. We have been lucky with our in form striker force..but you can't win anything in a season relying on them making something out of nothing...

Its dropping points at places like carrow fecking road that cost you titles. I really thought we could have at least gotten a draw. We barely even tested ruddy in the second half...and no..him coming to collect crosses doesn't count as testing him.

There is some serious rubbish posted on this website which is why I don't post very much now. Example is Will Absolutes stupid statement about an old man reverting the what he knows - what fecking garbage - what do you know. and what the feck are you talking about - you obviously know nothing about coaching or you wouldn't make such statments. We were totally abject tonight - Giggs, and I idolise the guy, is not the player he was and Hernandez is definately an impact player. But Sir Alex desire is there for all to see - look at his reaction towards the end of the game - utter frustration because of (mainly) our inability to defend crosses properly. But in the end Norwich deseved it because they played better than us....end of. It's not the managers fault because he is old for feck sake. It is the players on the field not performing to their ability levels.

But we did not win, my dear. That is the point. Many people thought that we would be shite with this line-up and lo and behold, they were right.

There is a pattern to the Giggs-Carrick midfield since Barcelona dicked us. And it's not a flattering one.

Don't my dear me! If you knew for sure Giggs is not good enough any more, how come we still came second last season and lost by only goal difference? and how can you predict a newer younger player is a sure win compared to an experienced Giggs?! If we win today, and there was no one saying (am sure I am right) from the outset we with this lineup would absolutely lose to a Norwich side.

Show me who did that, and I will apologise to them only but not to you people who speak in hindsight.

this match will have been the wake up call for Fergie...if the Spurs match was not.

Neither should have been lost. poor Poor...

Next weeks fixtures look like they may save what happened today.

Still.

ah well...we are only a point off the top.

You mean last year when we should have won but somehow threw it away ? Where's Colin's roll eyes smiley when I need it?

Fergie was complacent, the starting 11 were complacent (apart from the Raging Bull that is Rafa) and the subs were wrong. The movement from the front men was easily dealt with by Norwich's defenders, our wingers couldn't cross for toffee, and our midfield was jogging round the pitch like it was a practice game.

Norwich weren't much cop either. 0-0 draw would've been the right result in terms of quality of chances made.

Not bloody telling you how to support them. You sure have your own way. Just crisicing you for speaking on a public forum something I beleive is wrong. I am entitled to my opinion unless you are telling me otherwise?!

If from the start of last season you have predicted we came second for sure and by goal difference, then show me where's your crystal ball, because I want it too. Now before Christmas weogre second on the table with one point differenc, you sounded like we are no way getting back if we still have Fergie in charge

dreadful dreary performance today, we never even looked like scoring, most of the team looked utterly disinterested and we never got out of neutral let alone anywhere near top gear.

if we play like we did today we would lose to just about any team in the league.

It's the lethargic and disinterested bit that's a worry. Can't wait for Rooney to come back. He would have put some effort in. He is not always top notch, but my god he always tries his hardest.
