Fletcher is suspended Nem 7,as you pointed out yourself..
so im puzzled as to why you include him in your team? will it be a WWE style stunt when he runs out with a mask on?

Finally, someone who recognises that Quinton Fortune is a midfielder and John O'Shea is a defender. Somebody should tell the manager.

Good team.

Well with the players we have left, thats the best we can hope for now, but it doesn't inspire confidence does it??, our defence will be extemly streched on sunday and expect us to concede 2-3 goals.

I reckon we'll play the same line-up as last night, but with Miller instead of the suspended Fletcher.

I'd wish we played:

---------Howard----------
Philip-Gary--Mickey-Johnno
-----Keano-Djemba-------
Miller----Scholes----Giggs
----------Smith----------

---------------------Tim---------------------
--Gary-------Keane-----Silvestre-----Fortune-
---------------Djemba----Phil-----------------
--Miller------------Scholes--------Giggs-------
-------------------Smith----------------------

Saf said it's likely Keane will play in defence. My guess is he'll play O'Shea instead of Phil in Cm.

O'Shea is not a LB though, didn't look to clever at CB either.

how about moving Silves to Left Back and filling in with either Bardsley or Spector?

Fortune is probably our best central midfielder behind Keane and Scholes.

O'Shea is a dull midfielder like Phil Neville, both are International defenders, John spent the last two years at left/right-back, which earned him a first-team place. If he's playing badly he should be dropped and not moved to the most important area of the field in Houllier fashion.

No wonder people moan about creativity.

i'd rather have phil in there instead of that big fruit.

Not sure if I regard Fortune as much as you do. He's a good player, but depending on what we're looking for then Fletcher, Djemba, Phil and Kleb can be more effective. Fletcher and Kleb are better at attacking but probably aren't as strong defensively, while Djemba and Phil are better defensively but can't do any attacking work between them. It depends on what we need for that game.

I have to admit that I forgot all about Phil when I was making that line-up earlier. :nervous: If I had remembered about him then I would likely have had him in there, although thinking tactically Fortune is the better option next to Djemba because of his extra attacking ability. A Djemba/Phil combo is like a black hole - it'll suck in and destroy the opposition chances, but it'll do the same to our own.

Just a thought, but would this work:

---------Tim---------
--Gaz--Keane--Micky--
Phil---Djemba---Fortune
Miller--Scholes--Giggs
-------Smith--------

The back three staying back to stuff the Chelsea attack, with the central midfield trio also able to shut down counter attacks, the front four leading the attack.

I do personally rate Fortune in midfield, he'll do the defensive work of Neville or Djemba but has an extra attacking dimension to his game that they don't have, plus he has a little nasty streak that makes him a little bit more committed.
I don't see him as a left-back because his positional sense isn't the best, yet Phil is an international full-back who has played there all his career and at the moment is our best left-back we have available IMO.
