Well the hardware is uninteresting, I'd like some big surprise with a game. Something to really build us up into the new generation (and possibly last) of consoles.

Ha ha! You are now crossing lines! This thread is about a console that will be released this year that will shit on the Wii U from a great height in terms of technology, thus leaving the poor Wii U with nowt but Mario. And that's without Microsoft showing their hand.
Sony and Nintendo are at their core very similar companies. Nintendo is a game company, and Sony is an Audio Visual company (at its core - for example it has never made fridges or washing machines, always black goods). Nintendo went astray IMO chasing the mass market as a core goal. Only to then try to return to the main gaming market with an underpowered piece of shit for the second time in a row.
So you don't think that Nintendo's consoles are powerful enough? Bloody hell why haven't you mentioned it before?

If there was any reason beyond graphics for Nintendo to make the move to the 'next generation' it was the fact the Wii fractured the user-base for developers who just wanted to do a normal controller base game, since not everyone will have a classic controller (or Gamecube one).
