Thought it was a tactical blunder from the manager. Lingard in the hole where he offers next to nothing in a defensive setup. Mata not on the wing but a wide midfielder where he was supposed to do more defensive work than attacking. That setup made it so our attacking game was exclusively "pass it to Martial" and he was effectively shut down in the first half with double marking. Rashford up top isolated and with general poor decision making.

Half-time substitution. I think we got this emoji for a reason :wenger:

It was a 0-0 game until Smalling decided to take out Blind and himself in one swoop and leave the defense open. There hadn't really been any mistakes so far. Lamela's header in the 1st half was a result of Carrick losing the ball just outside the box when the team was transitioning. Martial managed one time to go through on goal. Other than that the game was waiting for his kind of mistake because that's the only way a goal was being scored and Tottenham got it. Our best player of the day Fosu-Mensah getting injured was bad news but it's typical really and I wouldn't put much weight on that because he wouldn't have stopped that 1st goal and we were never going to come back from it.

Will one single journalist ask him to explain those second half tactics? Will they feck.

Downed tools the moment Alli scored. Could see it clear as day. Shameful display partly drawn in by growing fatigue.

Can't be forgotten that we started the game well and while Spurs had the better chances, only Lamela's was clear cut until the goal. We also had a clear Martial moment so that was equal.

For the best part we contained them fairly well. A strategy that sounds worse than it is but we have to be realistic, we're in patchy form and not the team we were under Fergie. Spurs have been flowing with great momentum and surging for the title. It was a logical setup to frustrate and aim for a clinical finish or 2.

Up till the 70th minute, Fosu-Mensah, De Gea and Schniederlin were playing very well with Smalling edging Blind into an honourable mention. Martial and Blind did well in parts. Undoubtedly Lingard was the one player that caused our team the biggest problem though. Offered very little on the ball after the 25th minute.

Yeah, I typed this before full time.

Unacceptable and embarrassing. Too many players that do not deserve to play for us. The sooner LVG is shown the door the better.

Load of bollox, we crumbled badly and some very odd decisions from lvg

But top 4 is still wide open for me. Next week city go to Chelsea and we are home to Villa

Time to watch the UFC and pretend that any fighter who gets knocked out is Van Gaal or Woodward.

Just seen blind having a nice little chat with vertonghan not looking like he has a care in the world.

Sums up the club at the moment.

Well done Spurs, that was a thoroughly deseved hiding for us - they were solid at the back and outclassed us in every department.

We held our own until HT, then it all went to shit.

LVG's subs baffling once again.

Goodbye, CL football. I hope this is the back of LVG as well.

Flattering scoreline for Spurs. United couldn't cope for the first goal and just completely shutoff afterwards and it cost them any chance of a points. Fair play to Spurs, they've been very good the entire season and United need to refocus for another London match day against WHU for FA Cup. Very flattering scoreline for Spurs.

Might as well have forfeited the game and blame it on traffic instead of that horror show. Abysmal stuff.

Rojo and Darmian were a huge part of the problem.

Id rather Bo-Jack and TFM in the FB positions for the rest of the season.

Ashley Young as a CF.

LVG will be gone when City seal 4th.

Just announce Mourinho already and bring back some positivity to the club. We are in shambles.

What happens when you refuse to get rid of the worst manager in the league

If only we could rewind back to the moment Fergie decided to retire and call Moyes and have a do over.

We're shit, turned up had no shots as usual, got spanked, because we're shit,
LvG remains. So... basically business as usual.

Yep doesn't matter the score Blind plays like its a testimonial match. Yet he plays some good games and is tagged with being cool. He cost 2 goals today.

Negative negative negative. Tactics suggested we had no interest in winning this game. This Mata on the right thing is just ridiculous, how can he think it's a good idea when it's been our downfall so many times.
