Veron will most likely be back.

Probably United line up

------------Barthez------------------

G.Neville---Rio---Brown---Mickey-----

Beckham---Keane---Veron---Giggs------

-----------Scholes-------------------

---------------RVN------------------

Doubt it mate, hasnt played since March 5. I think Butt will play instead of him in the team above to add steal and halt Zidane et al.

Very well written mate, but perhaps shows a bit too much respect for Real who've been pretty shit this season and are perhaps underestimating the fact we've spent 3 years preparing for this very game changing our formation and style to ensure away success. I think they might be in for a Real Ruud awakening.

Amen to that, Neil. <img src="graemlins/angel.gif" border="0" alt="[Angel]" />

Ture, true. Although I just have this feeling that they'll turn it on when it matters. I have an uneasy feeling that they're going to outclass us at the Bernabeu. Probably just nerves. This is the biggest game since Barca 99. <img src="graemlins/nervous.gif" border="0" alt="[Nervous]" />

They haven't played that well in the group stages, but like you say they can turn it on when it matters. And they have a lot of big game players who can win a match for you in an instant.

I wish Seba was fit for this one. I think he would thrive in a match like this. But I would guess that Nicky will play in his place and hopefully we'll see the kind of performance that he put in for England earlier this week.

If we play well, we can beat anyone. I think if we draw, but score at least one, that'll be a good result for us.

I think we will win. We should fear no one. This is a team that thumped Juve 3-0 in Turin, when many people on the caf were predicting a draw or a loss.

Keep the faith.

Yes, Seba would be great.

The focus for this game should surely be on taking our opportunities to score, while keeping it tight at the back. One goal scored changes a lot of things for us. It would force Real to have to look for the goal too in the return leg.

Our guys are some of the best in the business to take care of Real. Let the combat begin!

My prediction 2:0 us. Ruud and Giggs the scorers with Scholes may be scoring third.

We have to score at the Bernabeu imo. If we can do that and not concede at Old Trafford we'll go through. ;)

I'm 90% sure it will be Butt and Keane in the middle, Ole on the bench to save us if needed. For some reason I see Ruud being isolated upfront, I have a few bad feelings about this one.

<img src="graemlins/nervous.gif" border="0" alt="[Nervous]" /> Come on United!

From Carlos' comments, I think they're going to be very focused on Ruud. Our midfield's going to have to give him a lot of support and we're going to need a big game from Scholesy/Becks or Giggsy.

Agreed. Becks, Scholes and Giggs have at times played more as a forward three, and they need to get in at Real. I expect Roy and Nicky to be in for a very long night.

We're going to rely on our defence a lot but I believe Barthez will be the man of the match!

3-0
RVN x2, and one from um......
Keane?? or..Ole?? or......Scholes??

I think we'll get a draw. Hope this isn't just wishful thinking.

IF we manage to win our next three games, we will be almost through to the Euro semis and clear in the League. A big if, but here's hoping.

On the bench.

And yes, Neville is suspended, which eases my selection headache. ;)

Oh come on Giggzy - don't mess up my selection.

I heard that Seba may be fit but is unlikely to play due to shortage of actual match fitness.

 </strong><hr></blockquote>

I just preferred Wes and Silvesdtre in the middle.

I'm not anti Rio - won't be disappointed if he plays, tho I don't think we've seen the best of him yet.

i'd play Gaz-Wes-Rio-Silvestre..

I think Rio's getting better...and has started to form an understanding with Wes... so there's no point changing things now.

JOS will have his time...

You're probably right.

Veron is 100% out <a href="http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/champions_league/2924265.stm" target="_blank">BBC</a> :( :(

yeah, this has to be the team bar anyone getting injured in the warm up...

RVN has proved all season that he can do a good job up front on his own, so I wouldn't be to worried about that.

Maybe Butt to track Zidane, Keano to provide the cover for the two centre backs and Scholes and the wingers to get forward at every opportunity.

Carlos v Beckham will be interesting...Carlos has had him is his pocket up until now...Becks has something to prove against this guy big time.

I think we need a goal out there, because as we are all aware Real are more than capable of scoring away from home.

Scholes has been bubbling and is due. RVN and Giggs have been great all campaign, and like you say Becks has a point or three to prove.

Me and a mate are going to the return leg. Cant wait !!!</strong><hr></blockquote>

Hope you don't celebrate too much at Old Trafford. Beating Real will only be half the job done... Quite a bit after that too!
