ITS NOT FINISHED @Duffy

Simon Adebisi, Vern Schillinger, Clay Davies, Ernie McKracken and Krazee Eyes-Killa won't get a single vote. Shame.
Good call, he was a fascinating character. Adebisi got too caricatural towards the end though I thought, and the whole part when he more or less controls Em City was silly for me. Vern was actually a much more nuanced character as well, I think.

Clay Davies was fun and all his appearances are gold, but I don't feel like he'd be one of my top characters ever, especially as we're considering two different media.

Tough inclusion because he has so little screen time but the spectre of him hangs over the films so wonderfully and his eventual appearance is so brilliant.
Welles was a perfect match to play such a larger-than-life character. It wouldn't have worked out as well as it did with someone like Edward G. Robinson as Harry Lime.

He improv'd the cuckoo clock speech, as only he could.
"Like this crook once told me, in Italy for thirty years under some crooked religious family they all went nuts with warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed, but for some reason they produced paintings and such, Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance. In this country called Switzerland they had phony brotherly love and 500 years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce in the end? That cuckoo clock. Where's your Messiah now, Holly?"

TBF I put 2 in the historical list and Joan de Arc was #21.

Yeah, knew it wouldn't happen but we'll probably just get Ripley in here as well. Something to slightly even the scales among 99-100% of men voting makes sense though.

...The Ripley Rule!
