Kerry didn't deny US aircraft carriers were en route to the region. Totally side stepped the question.
I was just browsing through the German media. Doesn't look like bullshit.

Noch im Sommer trafen sich Swoboda-Mitglieder in Deutschland mit der NPD. Sie tauschen sich auch mit dem Front National aus Frankreich aus. (Swoboda-members meeting with the NPD)
Hypocrisy is just a by product of the pursuit of power. States do what they need to in order to get ahead, consolidate their power, territory, and capabilities. Its the central mechanism of the international system. For all those barking about hypocrisy - this is how the system works, get over it.

From the 50k Thread haha
The Kremlin is orchestrating a media campaign to portray all the Maidan protesters as fascists. Some of them no doubt are, and the campaign has certainly been successful. By the same means, a lot of the protesters aren't - they just don't want to live in a rancid state like Yanukovych's Ukraine. But, in any case, the big joke is that the state most closely resembling fascism is VVPs Russia.
Anyone see the vid of the ruskies firing AKs over the heads of Ukrainian unarmed troops?? madness, this is going to kick off at some point im sure there will be fighting of some form before the end.
Of course not. I guess that Russia could entirely invade Ukraine and US/Nato won't act (except economical sanctions). If they touch Poland though, it will be WW3.Surely there is no way that US would start a war with Russia over this?
If you want to discuss fascism in Russia, feel free to open a separate thread. I'm pointing out to the key members of thr new Ukrainian government having ties to right-wing extremist parties. Your ridiculous 'Kremlin conspiracy' is completely misplaced as this problem was independently addressed by various German media ages ago (check the links provided in my previous post).
But anyways, not a big deal really. If in the past the US partnered up with scum like Saddam, bin Laden, UCK, Syrian 'rebels', etc, it's not too surprising they'll turn a blind eye on a few anti-Semites making up the new Ukrainian government which they helped creating.
Yep, UCK should have never fight. They should have let you kill everyone of us. Scum they were, after all Milosevic was a good guy but all other nations in Yugoslavia made a grand conspiracy against you.
Pretty much many seperatist organization on some time were called terrorist organization, but the truth is always more complicated than that.Nope, the UCK was a terrorist organisation operating within a sovereign state. If I recall correctly it was labelled terrorist even by the US at some point.
And no, Milosevic was not a good guy. Albanian secessionist aspirations started long before he ever entered politics.
Lithuania is a member of NATO. I don't think that even Putin is that stupid to invade them. Then US pretty much will be forced to counter-react.21:31: E, Vilnius, Lithuania
emails: Russia is holding tactical exercises in Kaliningrad, very near to Lithuania's border. The air is thick with tension, people are talking about war and loss of independence. Mass media keeps flooding the Internet with panic and pessimistic news.
The paranoya is starting to hit everyone hard.
Talking of planned things arent the americans due to undertake joint exercises with the south korean military soon? - will be interesting to see the north korean reaction and if russia will be supportive of themThe media aren't helping really either, like making a headline about a Russian missile test that's been planned already and the Americans were notified in advance as per the agreement. But it's more fun to stick a massive headline up instead.
If they Invade a nato country we are all off to war chaps, every man and his nato affiliated dog will be off to war. It will never happen though its basically the world v russia if that happened.Lithuania is a member of NATO. I don't think that even Putin is that stupid to invade them. Then US pretty much will be forced to counter-react.
Putin playing games - don't interfere in Ukraine or you might end up with more on your plate.Lithuania is a member of NATO. I don't think that even Putin is that stupid to invade them. Then US pretty much will be forced to counter-react.

If it came to that though they do have the nukes... but lets be realistic its not going to come to thatAnd Russia don't really have the power to handle even one or two strong countries these days.

crimea will join russia after a referendum and then everybody can relax - and wait for korea or iran or whatever the next flashpoint will be.
though if they ban roman from spending his roubles on chelski then at least some good will have come from it.
Probably true... but one can hopeUnlikely, the Russians are a huge driving force in the City, especially in the London housing market. The Russians are bringing in far too much money once they leave Russia for us to put any meaningful restrictions on them.

I guess so.Putin playing games - don't interfere in Ukraine or you might end up with more on your plate.
Yep. Putin doesn't seem to be a man in drugs to start invading NATO countries.Kaliningrad is also close to Poland, nothing is going to happen there though. Neither Poland nor Lithuania are in any real danger.
You think so? I had the impression that they are very powerful now (contrary to 10-15 years ago when they weren't). Anyway, the threat of a few thousand nukes would be pretty powerful. And Russia don't really have the power to handle even one or two strong countries these days.

Russia's stooge got thrown out and Putin is all mad...oh dear. Can you blame Ukranians wanting to live in freedom.
I think this will all die down. Crimea is gone...so whats new with how Russia acts.
Freedom might be very subjective, but can you blame Kiev Ukrainians for wanting to reach out towards the EU, rather than towards Russia?
Disregarding factors such as the hypocrisy of Western politicians, nationalism and pride, being a puppet to the EU is infinitely more attractive from the individual's perspective than being a puppet to Russia. And I am saying this as someone who was born in Ukraine.
But the worst option is obviously having Svoboda in power.

Good post. How some continually mock the aspirations of people wanting to improve their lives is beyond me.
I think talking about 'freedom' is a bit rich as Ukraine is not North Korea. The issue is more likely a crap economy and corruption. And obviously people will aspire to bring forward a change and better their lives. But please forgive me for not buying the story that this is a 'people's revolution' and it has got nothing to do with the US orchestrating the whole thing.
It has nothing to do with EU IMO. Slovenia was always the most progressive republic of ex-Yugoslavia. Apparently even if you go back in time 3-4 decades ago, the difference is still there. Of course that their integration in EU has halped a lot, but anyway, the differences between ex-Yugoslav republics have always existed.I always noticed when I crossed the border between Croatia and Slovenia the massive difference between to two countries in terms of how "modern" and how much richer Slovenia felt than Croatia.
Obviously that could be down to other things than just one being in the EU and I don't know enough about either country to make that assumption. But nor do a lot of people and it's very easy to see lots of green grass in these EU countries.
Not sure what my point is really, just felt like saying it![]()
