Russian invasion of Ukraine | Fewer tweets, more discussion

On this day (almost) 79 years ago, Allied forced liberated Sevastopol. Not totally relevant but fascinating video.

Around 150,000 Russian troops currently present in southern Ukraine. No mention of troop numbers for eastern Ukraine.

Around 152,000 Russian troops are currently stationed in temporarily occupied territories in southern Ukraine, in Zaporizhzhia and Kherson oblasts, preparing to defend their positions against the expected Ukrainian counteroffensive.

No doubt which one of Scholz, Macron and Sunak Zelenskyy likes the most

Haven't seen much of Macron on Ukraine lately. I wonder if he's finally figured out that brokering a deal with Putin is pure fantasy.

Would love to know if the Russians fighting in Bakhmut now are still Wagner or traditional forces.

I would assume that Bakhmut city is still Wagner's zone and the flanks are Russian military which are now crumbling. There wasn't any news that Wagner actually retreated. As a matter of fact, they still hard press on the last Ukrainian held area and obliterate just any remaining building under Ukrainian control. The smaller Ukrainian area gets in Bakhmut, the easier it is shelling them sadly. At some point, Ukraine has to retreat from there instead of being sitting ducks for Wagner's artillery. Provided there won't be a counteroffensive soon.

I am really having a hard time believing that the sanctions are really working and are hurting Russia as much as some say it does.

He added that, while we don’t know how Russia’s war of aggression will end, “what we do know is that when it ends it is extremely important that we are able to prevent history from repeating itself.”

This bit was interesting....

".....he had invited to the Summit the leaders of NATO’s partners in the Indo-Pacific region – Australia, Japan, New Zealand and the Republic of Korea – because the challenges we face are global".

If NATO continues on, it will probably continue to forge closer ties with other democratic nations around the world.

Not global. China. and those countries will be key

After UK, France is also going to train pilots. Better late than never. I think we see F-16s later this year.

Looks like Russia tried to send a bunch of Kinzhal missles at the Patriot battery or batteries near Kyiv. Current score: Patriot Missiles 7 - Kinzhal 0.
