I didn’t realise that this lad only turned 17 earlier this month. He must be one of our youngest ever debutants?

Yes it's time for this discussion: Only 166 cm? He looked taller than that.

He is good 10cm higher than 166cm, that’s for sure.

That said, @MyOnlySolskjaer thank you for the thread, @chattichattichatta congratulations on your son’s senior debut!

On a serious note, his touch and ball control look very decent, which is a promising sign. But he was easily dispossessed, so needs to work on his physical strength a bit.

Must have been a brilliant moment for him. My God though, he looks so young.

I'll remove the height as it's probably based on old information.

Angel Gomes was younger at the time of his debut, but he comes second, most probably

He’s literally a boy, it’ll come. Putting him on the wing didn’t really help either as he’s not exactly a speed merchant, much more about technique and movement.

Shame there was no crowd there to cheer the lad on.

Did think it was a bit cliche of Ole to bring him on against Newcastle. I suppose we’ll see if he plays more league games.

Big day kid. Keep up the hard work and stay focused.

glad Ole is giving young academy players a chance.

Thank heavens the commentators have stopped calling him ‘Shaw-tyre’.

Some way off the pace but that 5 minutes is his reward for good work in the academy. I would think he will go back to the reserves for a couple of years to grow some more before we see him regularly.

Position in the OP says left/right wing, but is that actually true? I was under the impression he was more of a central attacker/no.10 type of player.

Gotta worry about the posters in here who think that’s the way you pronounce it.
They’re some who spell McGuire and Lindegaard like this still so pronouncing it correctly won’t be done overnight

Any other team than Newcastle and it would be Amad coming on instead of Shola.

It's just like when Tuanzebe was captain against Rochdale.

First geordie for you since Carrick?

He's another Wallsend Boys club alumni if his Wiki is correct.

Shearer, Waddle, Beardsley, Carrick, Bruce.

Always good to see a young player get a chance.

I might be wrong, but was Shoretire one of the kids who we got from City when their stockpiling of talents started to rub the parents up the wrong way? @jb8521 @khoazany I think you guys might now?

I'm sure I read it on the caf a while ago, but it might not have been Shola, but someone else.

So he is seventh youngest player to play for ManUtd. That's brilliant.
And only 2 of the 6 are well known today.
I have no doubts that Gaskell and Whitefoot were great players, but I have never heard of them even :(

Not really, most people pronounce things the way they are spelt.

Shore as in sea shore, and tire as in tyre/tire on a wheel. To people that haven't heard how it's pronounced correctly i'd safely assume we'd all say it like that.

Now that we know it's not that, we need to say it correctly. I noticed the MUTV commentators starting to say it properly only like 2 weeks ago, so they've clearly been briefed about the correct way recently.
