It doesnt mean much at all, but I think you can all agree that with it being Moyes first game, succeeding SAF it would have been more media friendly and a bit more comfortable if it had been a win.

Also I think the overuse of 'Moyes out' jokes actually shows a subconscious concern about him, 'one doth protest too much' comes to mind. I would wager the ones apparently bluffing 'Moyes out' are the ones who would be really saying that were he to struggle when the season really starts.

I disagree, it was a decent run out in tough conditions and some ok performances from a few of the kids, personally I don't give a shit what the media make of it, they will write what they want anyway.
As for the reference to the ' Moyes out' jokers, you could well be right and I am sure there are some who certainly will be quick to panic once the season starts in earnest if we are not performing the way we are used to, but I have got a feeling they will be shouted down by the majority on here.

It's genuinely hilarious seeing people saying that we are fecked on the back of that game. (On another board I read).

Though I did say at the start of the Dalglish season when Liverpool got toweled by a bunch of nobodys that they would struggle to finish top 6. Lets hope that where I was right they will be horribly wrong.
But it is so fecking irritating otherwise seeing just how bitter some people (who aren't even blood tied or directly connected to the club) are.

I missed the game. But aren't those about a good work out and a chance to see those who aren't going to be getting much time and some of the new players available? I think the result of it is just meaningless. Except pride, dignity etc.. Blah blah

It will separate the men from the boys if that does happen. A lot of people don't realise, or weren't alive even when SAF first took over and forget he himself took a few years to win his first trophy, and I don't even think it will take Moyes that long.

Yeah I agree. We could have done with a win and a good start under Moyes. I don't really care about friendlies but the media will be on his back. BCC still have our defeat as the main story on their football site

true, but then again we also shouldn't forget what kind of shape SAF got United in and what kind of shape he's leaving United in for Moyes

If Welbeck had scored the two or three chances that any decent finisher (including himself when in better form) would have, then this would have looked like the scrappy and error-prone but also essentially comfortable win that is expected from a first pre-season game. So the fact that we lost shouldn't lead to worries about anything except Welbeck's finishing. We played worse football in a lot of the tour games last year, and that season turned out alright.

I look for two things in tour games: increasing cohesion and sharpness, and bold, promising performances from youngsters. You can't really tick the first box until the team have played more than one match, and the second box was firmly ticked by Januzaj and Zaha (with Fabio and Lingard also doing well).

United lost a workout game, and people are upset?

I can't be good fan for not caring.

Wanted to win the game because it was Moyes first game in charge, but nothing important anyway.

Preseason is for fitness and to watch young players only. Whoever gets upset for us losing a preseason game needs to have a word with himself.
