SL Benfica - Manchester United

They outplayed us tonight and deserved to go through.
 
but we deserved it we were shite in all of our 6 games in CL...
BRING ON PL,FA CUP and League Cup !!!! :devil:
 
Our performance today was no different to how we played a few weeks ago.

What went wrong?

People are criticising Ronaldo, but he is the last person that should be targeteted, Rooney was nowehere - as he was at the weekend.

The players seem to have no idea whay everyone else is doing - how many times fif we see mis placed passs followed by players gesturing at each other.

Sorry - I have no problem with your salaries because your career could end in a geart beat. But surely you should know how to play together...isn't that what training is for???

It's not only the performance, it's also that no one stood up, took all the responsibility and made us win the game (like Keano did)
 
Oh well, least we can at least try and concentrate on getting a Champs League place for next-year.

Changes need to happen though.
 
they played better - did the keeper actually make a save - other than on scholes' first attempt? not good enough really. 4th in a poor group (on paper) in which we added to the "poor" more so than the other sides.
 
the fans were the best today. Can't say much about the players though. Lack the desire to win. Should have built on the 1st goal but nothing....absolutely nothing. As far as I can remember...the Benfica keeper had to make only one save.

No 2 ways about it. We deserved to be out of Europe. SAF and the players must take the responsibility.

Did i say he played fantastic today?
I never change my opinions, he got more space and played better when Ronaldo went off. I still stand by it. Our entire midfield not crowded.
or in your case, i will rephrase the sentence he played badly in the first half but played decently after Ronaldo went off. Decently because it was about how he played in the first half of the portsmouth game.
 
Gutted - ronny was awful. I had no complaints when i saw the line up other than sheasy. Decent side out and we got done. So many under performed.

I kinda know what you mean. Would you swap our strike force for cole and york? Or our defence or even half of our mid. Together something is missing. i wouild have left giggs on rather than ronny but thats a minor issue. We looked impatient.
 
When you look at the names on the teamsheet apart from maybe O'Shea who would you replace? Not many players who be higher up the ladder.

In 99 we would have beat these lot 6-2

Agreed. It was the best we had. It even looked decent on the team sheet. Ronny was a nightmare - as were a few others. egrettably I can blame nobody specific for tonight. It was our best available side
 
Back to the game, most of Benfica players were playing injury fakes in the final minutes of the game. Not a good attitude for them. Hope that now we can more focus on Premiership race with Chelsea.

It's exactly times like this that we need fans like you like we need a hole in the head - get behind the team ffs.You obviously didn't sit through the mediocre rubbish some of us had to in the 70s and 80s! And there was more noise at OT watching that crap than watching the superb football we've been spoilt with for the last ten years or so. I'm going to sit back now and watch the muppets jump off the band wagon and good riddance :devil:
