Sterling rejects new deal | Telegraph

We'd be daft not to try. Don't think he would come though.

Why i saw that coming. But sadly he would be off to one of the London club or maybe if he really make it to Spain.

That's actually the second offer he's rejected from Liverpool. For the first round of negotiations they offered him three hubcaps off a Vauxhall Nova and a Panasonic Super Drive VHS player with a free copy of Die Hard 2 inside it.

Still has two years left on his current deal, I'm sure they'll work something out.

Scandalous offer. He does have 471 kids to feed, you know.

It's a long-term deal and he's the biggest british talent at the moment, also he's already one of their most influental players.
Means squat. These contracts get renewed every 2-3 years. So after 3 years, you'd be again looking at Sterling asking for 150k+. Baffling!

He hasnt even done that much IMO to be asking for anything better

Plus He is only 20. What a little shit

But funny cos its liverpool

You can't know that now, neither can Sterling himself.
I agree that it's not a 'poor' offer, but I can still see Sterling's point of view in it. I don't know what the other Liverpool players are on though, so it's hard to say really.

Should be performance related at that age IMO. He can clearly earn any bonuses with his talent, but it would be short-sighted to just give him a flat rate
That's normally true, but I don't think there are many players out there you can compare to Sterling, he's already one of their best players and therefore shouldn't just be seen as a random player at that age.

Well, isn't Shaw on £100k? He probably mouths off to him about it in the England squad, squatting in Sterling's direction in his skinny jeans and skin tight t-shirts. "This is what you could be, Raheem."

Can't say I'm surprised that a United fan turned down a Liverpool contract. Surprised he signed for them in the first place though.

Hey, he was United fan, once you play for the mighty Liverpool at the magic Anfield Road you automatically become a huge Liverpool fan.

If he fulfils his potential he will end up here via another club.

He's their second best player (after Sturridge) and their main asset. He's also very likely the best U20/U21 player on the world. Apparently Luke Shaw is on 100k or so, so Sterling should require as much. And Liverpool this season has been totally dependant on him.

Hope that he doesn't sign for them, cause he looks like a terrific talent.

That has been the usual case from what I know. Player signs a 5 year deal/contract. Unless he is being sold or anything, he gets a contract at the end of the 3 year period (unless he has 1-2 amazing seasons and merits one based on the performances).

Isn't his current deal expiring in 2016 ? If so, we should definitely try to sign a pre-contract agreement in December 2015, with a view towards a Bosman transfer. Be brilliant if it happens, snatching their best prospect for free at age 21. :D

Well, there have also been cases of players being forced by the club to run down their contract due to being too stingy.

I can see his point of view and I think when you look at Sterling you shouldn't just see a greedy 20 year old, but one of the most influental Liverpool players and one of the biggest talents in Europe. They should do their all to keep him here.

At this point, I wouldn't say so. His form has taken a big dip this season (Kudos to Rodgers!)

The form of all Liverpool players has dropped, obviously. But that doesn't mean he's not one of their best players, if not the best together with Sturridge. Down to Rodgers, like you said.

Is this guaranteed to be accurate? I remember the media being dead wrong on the Welbeck contract speculation a while back, same accusations of greed then..

Worth a punt?

He'll start receiving death threats from the loyal Liverpool support, no way he doesn't sign a new contract.

Obviously not worth a punt since they wouldn't sell to us, no matter the price. But still an interesting situation if he were to leave them for free.

Don't think the figures or details are accurate whatsoever to be honest, but his contract is running out in 2016 and he might rethink staying there.

Even if he does leave Liverpool on a free after his contract expires, which is unlikely, the buying club will still have to pay a hefty compensation to Liverpool as he would still be under 23 years old.

Aren't their rules about how you can buy yourself out of contract after 3 years? He's two years into a 5 year contract so he can leave next Xmas for the sum of 2 years wages - not very high wages thanks to scouse stingyness.
