I do hope so.

Can't wait.

I think its unlikely. Unless they both get unveiled today. I thought there were some details in both contracts that need to be ironed out (probably how much each agent gets  ).

Oh don't start this again...

Anyone who ain't got a ticket for the Stoke game can gain access by payment at the turnstiles on the evening of the match. Stoke are expecting about 20,000 for this game.

Anyone know where I can get radio commentary for the match? I doubt any sites will actually broadcast commentary for a match like this though ...

Bartez is probably gonna start this match ahead of Carroll. If he doesnt hes going to be out of the club soon imo.

Team Talk claims that Barthez knows he is #3 now behind Tim and Roy and is going to go. They talked to friends of his, ya see.

Of course it could all be crap, and he starts the season as #1.

Roy Carroll is playing in the reserve match tonight. It'll be interesting to see who our GK is tomorrow night.

MUTV.

Any idea if there'll be any chance of either of yesterday's signings getting a few minutes? Ronaldo is certainly match fit, having had a full pre-season with Lisbon. Not sure about Kleb - anybody know if he's been playing & training?

You could try the local stations for the Stoke area, assuming they have a website or you live close enough to pick up the radio signal.

Sorry, don't know the station names but the BBC one should be easy enough to track down.

When will we know tonights team?

My cousin doesn't want to watch the game with me since he would rather play golf then look at Lynch and Pugh for a couple of hours!

P.S. This is even though there is only about 5°C outside!

So the game is being webcast on MUTV? That the fee based service on their official website, right? I doubt it, but do they also webcast their Premiership games?

Good job the Caf was down while this awful game was played.

Don't think I could have stood reading all the doom and gloom merchants ranting about the result.

Sack Howard, Sell Phelan.

About Kleberson, his style is all about running 90 minutes and not stopping, south american robbie savage, but not a twit. I would not be worried about his fitness.

losing 1-3

nevermind, its a friendly game,

but mikey was injured

No mate - MUTV the TV channel, not mu.tv, the web channel. Neither of these are allowed to show Premiership matches live, but they do show them after midnight on the Sunday (GMT/BST)

Thanks, A1Dan. Didn't know there was a 'real' MUTV TV channel. So the web mu.tv shows games delayed, after midnight on sunday? Is that the full game, or highlights?

I think just highlights, but I'm not sure - never tried it. The TV channel shows the full games regularly through Monday though. Don't know how you get it in US, but I'm pretty sure you can.

HERE in Portugal all the sporting fans are going 2watch this first game not only because of JARDEL but also because of Ronaldo..i dont think Jardel is ready yet but Ronaldo could play a few minutes.. :smirk:

From the Local Stoke Press...

HE'S A GOODFELLOW

MATCH VERDICT BY MARTIN SPINKS:

12:00 - 14 August 2003

Fabien Barthez was frozen with embarrassment after suffering an icy blast from the one called Freezer.

Marc Goodfellow twice beat the goalkeeping eccentric to raise the temperature during an entertaining second half worthy of last night's generous turnout.

Goodfellow - as in freezer jolly goodfellow - provided the deadly cutting edge to enliven an evening boasting neat rather than pulsating football until the last half-hour.

He opened his account by slipping clear of the last defender to control Petur Marteinsson's lofted through ball and prod convincingly into Barthez's right-hand corner with his weaker right foot.

Diego Forlan's 67th minute equaliser was but a hiccup before Stoke nosed back in front a minute later.

Barthez was the architect of his own downfall by throwing dangerously into midfield for Djemba-Djemba to mis-control and gift possession to Goodfellow-Goodfellow.

The 21-year-old whippet saved his legs this time as a cracking 30-yarder cannoned off the bar and struck the diving Barthez for what was technically, if not morally, an own goal.

Barthez, having earlier been thrown a giant beach ball from a joker in the Boothen End, could only berate younger colleagues in a desperate attempt to cover his own back.

But his anguish wasn't finished there. A quick throw from the right in the 81st minute was missed by a defender's flailing leg and Chris Iwelumo, still sniggering after a flash of earlier skill, drove gloriously past Barthez at his near post.

Stoke simply revelled in the carnival atmosphere accompanying the end of the evening after a more cautious first period had seen the home side, starting with the same 11 as last weekend, produce the one memorable moment against their subdued visitors.

John Eustace, still improving with every game, switched the play from right to left, exchanged passes with Clive Clarke, then superbly picked out Carl Asaba for a forceful header well parried by Barthez diving to his left.

Barthez's save represented some redemption after an earlier clearance had provoked unnecessary panic and left Gifton Noel-Williams shooting against a defender as the goalkeeper stood some 20 yards off his line.

Noel-Williams would later remain in the dressing-room at half-time after falling victim to a slight ankle strain.

With some 16 subs coming and going before and during a more open second half, an appreciative audience was treated to far more goalmouth action.

Aside from four goals, there was also the thrill of seeing Goodfellow cross impressively from either flank and drill over after cutting in from the left.

Kris Commons and Lewis Neal were both inches wide either side of the former volleying wide at the near post following another run and cross from the inspired Goodfellow.

United began the game with as few as two players likely to start in the Premiership this Saturday - and ended it with little more than a third-team on the field - but there remains something reassuringly delightful about such scorelines.

Mind you, they should be accustomed by now to losing 3-1 against City.

Stoke: Cutler, Russell, Clarke, Marteinsson, Thomas, Hall, Eustace, Andrews, Noel-Williams, Greenacre, Asaba. Subs: Commons, Iwelumo, Goodfellow, Neal, Henry, Wilson, Wilkinson, Owen, L Hall.

Man Utd: Barthez, Pugh, Lynch, Silvestre, O' Shea, Fletcher, Butt, Djemba-Djemba, Richardson, Forlan, Bellion. Subs: Ricardo, Nardiello, Tate, Wood, Jones.

Referee: P Dowd (Stoke).
