Swansea City vs. Manchester United

It is not about form for Valencia. He has been figured out. Anybody and their dog knows what valencia will do, where he will go with the ball. Now it is just a matter of getting there before him and you make he useless.

Figured out? It didn't really take much figuring out for a couple of years. He'd simply burn you for pace and create a great cross.

Figuring him out is one thing, being able to stop him is another thing.

He's not got his old confidence, or is carrying a light injury. Once he's back to his full physical and mental capacity he'll be a threat again.

Wasteful today but a point wasn't such a bad result. The only negative was poor performance from Rooney and Valencia. Neither provided good service and rooneys passing was terrible.

Good effort from the lads though and we were so unlucky not to get a second.

Giggs being more productive than Valencia and young combines is saying it all.
No. We (well, at least most of us) knew Giggs was never going to be shit forever. I enjoyed his 15 minutes today, however some of our posters wanted him to reitre.

Ferguson just needs to realize he's not ready to play 90 minutes against a top side anymore...

Negative: dropped points
Positives: creating chances, center midfield looks good, Vidic is back

the biggest plus...

City will drop points too. not that worried.

This was the toughest of the Christmas fixtures imo.

you can see in an average match even...what a talent we have in RVP. His control and vision. If Rooney had been even 50% of his normal self...we would have walked out easy winners.

A point is fine. Win our next home game and we've 46 points for the first half of the season, which is outstanding.

I can not understand why Danny Welbeck wasn't brought on today, really should of got 20-30 mins IMO.

A point at an in-form Swansea isn't the worst thing. The most painful thing is the chances we messed up, it was highly frustrating. I'm certain that we'll bounce back against a dire Newcastle at home next week. Top of the league lads, remember that!

Thought that would of been the swap for Rooney, was amazed when giggsy came on before.

Sure a point in the long run at the liberty isn't the end of the world, but tbh after that sloppy performance it feels like a loss.

I believe fergie feels the same way too!.

Yes, let's blame Paul Scholes who came on with five minutes to go. If only he could have played to a similar standard as our talisman Wayne Rooney then all would have been good.

Why Paul Scholes gets singled out is beyond me.

I'm not blaming him or singling him out for us dripping points. I'm just pointing it but that he's finished.

Paul Scholes is still a fantastic footballer.

He's past it, I love the man but when he's definitely not quick enough to start for us, and was never the type of player to be a sub, what can he offer us during matches? Playing Cleverley, or Anderson, or somebody who can run like that is so much more beneficial to our team than playing someone as static as scholes, that he really should retire now, for good. No matter what he does he will always be a United legend, but it's time to call it a day.

You don't have to be quick to play in central midfield, it's a bonus not a requirement (see Andrea Pirlo, Xavi or Xabi Alonso). The difference between Paul Scholes and the players I've just mentioned is that they all get the added protection of playing in a three man midfield, which Scholesy never gets.

He's not past it and he offers us the exact qualities that those other deep lying playmakers possess. He creates space for himself and others, he dictates the play and spreads the ball about. He's still, by a considerable margin, our most skilled and most consistant passer of a ball. He has plenty to offer us this season, of that I'm sure.

Of all the performances by our four wide players, it is incredible that Young is getting shit!
He was good going forwards, and defensively.
I sometimes think, I've watched a different game.
Completely agree. Out of all the games that Young has had a nightmare this season, this is far away from one of them. It's baffling why he was getting so much stick in the match day thread.
