Film The Movies I want to see thread

That Kong film has a fantastic cast. I'd probably see any film for that alone.

King Arthur looks like it could be fun. I was getting a Sherlock Holmes (as in the recent films) vibe from the trailer, and then I realised it's another Guy Ritchie film.

Kong looks very interesting. Are they re-doing the previous King Kong now? I haven't seen that one because I had heard it was crap.

Reboot to tie in with the Godzilla movies. Leading to Godzilla vs Kong.

I think Shyamalan gets a slightly tough time but it probably doesn't help his case trying to recreate the perfect twist everytime ala Sixth Sense.

I've actively hated every movies he's done since Sixth Sense, so was surprised by how much I enjoyed the Visit. And yes, he does go for that perfect twist again. Which actually more or less comes off.

I dont mind Shyamalan when he has restrictions. His worst films were After Earth and Avatar: The Last Airbender, both being his biggest budget films... he clearly can't handle it. He needs the restraints to focus on narrative and weave a story that gets people hooked. Whether you liked films like The Village or The Visit, you can definitely say that they're not awful, even when you take out the twists. I guess the twist is his "catchphrase" like moody dark messes are Zack Snyder's catchphrases.

Undoubtedly gonna be beautiful, however looks exactly like the Universe birth/dinosaur scenes from Tree Of Life (I like the universe birth scenes but not the Dinosaur parts from Tree Of Life). I'll still definitely end up watching this Despite Knight of Cups being pretty shite.

Arrival looks good, love Sci-Fi. Just have to get past my Amy Adams hate. She's so f'ing bland.

And anything by Malick I'm giving a wide berth.

Malick on board (executive producer) and Sheen Staring, looks really promising.

These could be good.

It's definitely gonna be a weird film, it's an ambitious project and I'm curious to see whether he managed to pull it off. I was thinking that I'd prefer him going back to just focusing on smaller stories in his own peculiar way, but that's what he did in To the wonder (awful) and Knight of cups (less so, but not great), so I don't know. I'm on the fence about this one, there's parallels with Tree of Life, but the moments I preferred in Tree of Life were those focused around the kids' lives (even though I didn't mind the universe and dinosaur scenes). I guess we'll see.

Horror is my favorite genre of films, sad that I have not seen one for ages that proper scares me.
The last few horror films I really liked were:

Hush
The Conjuring 2
Lights Out
It Follows
We Are Still Here
Baskin

Out of those, the only one that creeped me out for a while was It Follows.

Yeah I definitely agree that he needs to get back to smaller stories and if possible needs to go with a more straight forward narration style like he did in Days Of Heaven. I think for a while now unfortunately he's been making in some parts the same movie and he needs to get back to a more conventional and less abstract style of storytelling.

PS: funnily enough I liked To The Wonder but couldn't stand Knight Of Cups so it just goes to show how polarizing his films can be (Which is a good thing IMO).

yeah same for me, been meaning to re-watch it.
I have not seen any in your list yet.
Mate get on it! Here's little break down if it makes your choice easier:

Hush is a home invasion thriller with a twist
The Conjuring 2, Lights Out and We Are Still Here are supernatural horrors
Baskin is a turkish horror film about 5 cops who enter hell - very disturbing film
It Follows is completely unique and probably one of my favourite horror films in the last 5 years. Definitely worth a watch. It's not scary per se but VERY creepy and you will be thinking about it for a while!
