I would like to see the same team as today with the only chance Rafael for Smalling.
 
I'll say this again here, I hope by the next time we play them in the league, one month after this game, we'd be 2nd or 3rd
anyway the team I'd like to see:
De Gea
Rafael
Vidic/Smalling
Evans
Evra
Jones
Cleverley
Valencia
Nani/Januzaj/Welbeck
Kagawa/Rooney
Rooney/RVP
 
Giggs out presumably, either Fellaini or Cleverley to start alongside Jones.

Hopefully either Vidic or Rafael are back to come in for Rio.

Other than that: Same team that humped Leverkusen please. (Also I wouldn't mind if Welbeck came in for either Nani or Valencia)

We need a playmaker player next to Jones, whether it be Giggs (unlikely as he played 93 minutes today), Anderson (hardly had a sniff all season) or Cleverley (been poor all season). It's not very clear who it will be, but Fellaini next to Jones would not be a good partnership at all. The front four shouldn't be changed at all though, give them all a chance for some consistency. Let RVP properly heal instead of rushing him back.​

Rafael in, Smalling instead of Rio, Fellaini given a shot beside Phil, Front 4 the same as tonight. They deserve another go.

Hope the majority of those who played tonight carry on. If Vidic and Rafael are fit and ready they can slot in for Smalling and Ferdinand.

I imagine Cleverley or Fellaini will step in for Giggs. Other than that I hope we don't change it around. I see no reason to displace Nani, Kagawa or Valencia for Januzaj, Welbeck or Young.

Always seems to happen that way. We're every team's 'turning point.'

Cleverley in for Giggs and either Vidic or Rafael in for Rio, who I thought was very poor. Other than that, same team. You can't build momentum with rotation.

It's been like 500+ mins since they last scored in open play. They're scored 2 goals twice this season in the PL, haven't scored 3 or more yet. Their goal scoring form is shocking. The problem is that we've also been pretty awful and Tottenham are due to a big performance, so Sunday should therefore be an entertaining game!
 
The less we change the better, the main question is who comes in for Giggs, personally I'd prefer Cleverley. I just hope Moyes doesn't decide to push Jones into the CB role alongside Evans and start both Fellaini and Cleverley. I don't think Jones future is as a CM but he's currently better than both of the aforementioned.

I think everyone just wants to see Kagawa behind Rooney again, and there's no need to rush RVP back from injury to potentially aggravate it. If he's not 100% fit no need to risk him.
 
I was thinking Nani was most likely to get dropped from the side, but his goal late on might warrant a start as his confidence will be high. Most people would want to see him have a run in the team, so we'll see. Ferdinand and Giggs will probably be omitted from the starting line-up purely because of their age and having played a lot of minutes over the last two games - but I can see both making the bench if Vidic isn't fit.

Assuming not fit:

Vidic - will start over Smalling or be on the bench over Ferdinand if at all fit.
Carrick - can't see him being back, but would start over Cleverley if he is.
van Persie - will be in the squad if fit, at the expense of Januzaj or Welbeck.

If Cleverley/Fellaini/Anderson can't have a decent game in midfield, we'll miss Giggs a lot, although we should still be able to get half an hour out of him if we need more creativity. Spurs aren't anything special at the moment though. If we stay solid, keep the ball, and put them to the sword, we could probably win by two or three goals here.

They are due a perfomance for sure.They played ok for large spells last week and the signs are there, but they are completely impotent in front of goal.Soldado is fecking dreadful and Lamela has been awful so far.I am sure they'll get a reaction and we must be careful because they're wounded.If they come out firing and catch us on the hop then we're in trouble.It's like playing City a few years back playing Spurs.They can raise their game and be fantastic but mostly they're a heap of shit !
 
Soldado isn't dreadful, he's just getting feck all service because Townsend has decided he's Gareth Bale after one decent England performance and is shooting instead of crossing into the box.
 
Should be well up for this after Leverkusen, plus we have a point to prove after Cardiff.

Shame to leave out one of Valencia, Nani and Kagawa after last night, but we're away from home so I can see the grafters getting the nod. For me the back 5 picks itself. I'd like to see Jones instead of Fellaini, RvP to come back with a brace. 1-3 United.

This won't be an easy one at all. But we need the three points, if we had beaten Cardiff we could have settled for a draw here. I guess Cleverley starts in the middle with Jones. Let's give Rooney and Kagawa another game together also. If we do score two (I know that is easier said than done) we will win.

Soldado isn't bad, I just think he's not completely suitable for their style. They seem to have a lot of these attacking midfielders like Erikssen and Sigurdsson who play in between the lines and look to thread balls in, whereas Soldado would be better playing with Lennon and Bale, feeding off crosses. He'd suit us more imo.
 
Theres no way Spurs will lose 2 home games in a row and 3 in total at this stage, They are not an awful side.

They will raise their game and get a draw.

That's the way I view it. I think they won't lose put it that way. But I would be delighted if we managed to beat them.

That's a fairly realistic line-up and one I would be quite comfortable with. I agree with those who cry "attack!", though. I'd be tempted to bench Valencia and Fellaini, take a gamble on Giggs being up for another one on the trot, and give Adnan a run-out:​

City thrashing them was the worst thing for United in both respects. They will be chomping at the bit for the visit of United, and they will probably see it as the ideal game in the league to follow it up with.

That and United have been massively better in the ECL than the PL, owing no small amount to the PL teams giving United a lot less space then the half acre Bayer did.

A draw is acceptable for us, I'd take that. But Spurs look vulnerable to me. An early goal for us - and all that chomping-at-the-bit might turn to desperation. It's an open one, I think.

That's probably the main rock-paper-scissors issue that both management teams will be considering right now, particularly after last night.

They're in a position where they need to try and make a stand/statement but they also just saw what we can do to teams who look to play an open game.
 
I think the front four from the Leverkusen game has earned their places in this game. I'd suggest that Giggs and Jones have as well, but can't see Giggs playing a second game in five days. Whilst Smalling looked good against Leverkusen, I'd say Rafael is still first choice RB by some way, and if he's fit should start.

Don't think it would be wise to play Giggs. He won't be given the sort of time he was last night.

I still think they will bottle it, as the gunner said if we score early they are in for a trashing.
