Kickoff at 12.15pm.

Probably the same team as last week.

Ok, I'll start with the predictions:

We'll get thrashed 0-4. Shearer to get two, Bellamy to get one, and an own goal from Silvestre.

And none of the Barcodes' goals to be from offside position.

It is still ironic that after the disappointment of twice missing out on Shearer, that we ended up with Eric- and I don't think we would have achieved the same success with Alan as Eric- down to a combination of ability and personality.

I think we only missed out on Shearer once when we got Eric.

But I know which I'd prefer. Clue - not Shearer.

Some milestones

Ruud is looking for his 50th United goal
Shearer ditto his 100th Toon goal
Silvestre making his 100th United appearance

i've always thought shearer has a very bad attitude. i support england national side, but Shearer was never my favourite.

i think shearer also costed andy cole a regular spot in the national side.

i wouldn't be surprised if his hatred of cole stemmed from the fact that he wanted to come to us, but never did, and that Cole was winning everything with us.

SAF:

As for my players, I've got concerns over Veron and Giggs coming back from internationals. Ryan arrived home late on Thursday after a six-hour flight from Azerbaijan. Veron had a seventeen-hour flight back from Japan and didn't arrive in London until Friday afternoon, so we're waiting on him coming back up the road. I have great doubts as to whether I can use Veron or not.

Quinton Fortune was also first class against West Ham ? he played that holding role very well. He had a hand in the goal and brought a lot of energy to the team. He's probably been one of our best players in the last two games.

By the end of December, Roy Keane, Rio Ferdinand, Nicky Butt, and Gary Neville should all be back. I think we will then see Manchester United show their true colours.

--------------------------------------------------

So it seems we will be missing a hatful of players, I midfield seems the worst affected. Keane, Butt, Beckham, Veron and maybe Giggs will be missing so who will we see in the midfield?

By the end of december...Only the end of December ? We'll have lost the league then, so...

As for the game of today, I think we're doomed. The injured players, and the others on international duty two days ago...

Thank God.

You sure Forlan is playing upfront and not Solskjær, as I thought Forlan would play on the right!

BBC lists it like that, the two will probably try to alternate through the game.

he was the one who suggested to the england coach at the time (who i don't remember since there has been so many of them in recent years) that Cole didn't fit the bills for the national side, that they couldn't form the partnership. he was all for Owen at the time. i know Owen was the real deal, but what Shearer did lacked a lot of professionalism.

he thought he ran the whole show. it's dumb.

but maybe he had the jealousy for all the trophies cole was getting and so bitched him out of the National side.

I dont think Shearer ever said what you claim he said - no one could know for sure anyway. I'm off to watch the game, come on United.

he didn't support andy cole.. it was all over the news during the time.. shearer came out to say he didn't think cole was good enough, but liked owen very much and they could partner each other well.

he was also among the supporter of critics that suggested that cole needed 7 shots to make 1 goal.

yessss premiere world are showing the game live, be back after the game boys and girls...i was just thinking...the next time they play live...ill run it over my web cam...if anyones interested

Chadwick should have started this game imo, he had a great reserve game, couldn't have done more, was brought off after an hour to rest him for this game - but doesn't start. He should at least come on as a sub.

Doesn't mean he hated Cole. He thought Owen was better - so do I.

Did you see the size of that hole?

Forlan switching to right hand side and Ole up front - but not sure how long they'll stick like that, I expect them to keep swapping. Its been all United.

Both sides are quite positionally defending, particularly in midfield. Not a lot of tackling in the game which is surprising considerings its Newcastle we're playing. I kinda wish Keano was out there to finish the job he wanted to do last time.
