This thread is not about Pogba, Rashford, Lingard, Martial or us not signing a DM

We have spent 80m on a winger that's best/most comfortable on the left, when we had no shortage of options there:
  • Rashford
  • Pogba
  • Bruno
  • Martial
  • Lingard
  • And a bunch rascals running around in the academy (Elanga, Garnacho, Shoretire)
Nearly every game I watch, I see a really good player on the LW. It's one of the most stacked positions in modern football.
Right now I'm watching Zinckernagel at Forest. looks talented. Off the top of my head, the last couple of matches I've watched, I've seen:
  • Gordon, - Everton
  • Danjuma - Villareal
  • Diaz - Liverpool
  • Sinisterra - Feyenoord
  • Cody Gakpo - PSV
  • Nkunku - RB Leipzig
All very attainable players.

For such a massive fee shouldn't you always sign a finished product, especially in a position that holds no shortage of talent?

Was Sancho a bad signing? Did we overspend on a talented player? Should you ever spent 80 million on a right footed winger that isn't Ballon D'or level?

No and we’ll see that next season

Too early to say.

A better question is - has it been a disappointing first season from him?

To which the answer would be yes... but I'd say it would have been very diffiult for him to have had a good season in this team.

Nope. Will turn out to be a great signing. Wasnt his fault Ole decided to not play him where he is actually best suited.

Young lad, new league etc.

He was a bad signing for Ole as he's not a counter attacking winger. He'll be much better in a more technical team. I'm certain he'd be ripping it up at City right now.

I still think he's absolutely going to do well here. Not doing much under two throughly underwhelming managers, hasn't made me think otherwise.

Erm we 100% have a shortage of options there unless you just want someone to fill a spot. I think he's our left winger for years now it's not his problem we still need to get RW right.

I'm glad we've got him.

Hindsight is a brilliant thing right?

Anyway the answer is no.

Just look at the options listed and unless Rashford returns to form we have no realistic options at either LW or RW bar Sancho.

I wouldn’t have signed him, but it’s too early to tell whether he was a good or bad signing. A lot depends on what happens around him.

Feck offfffffffffff & no. He’s been our best attacking player after ronaldo.

As of today, I would say yes. Been extremely disappointing this season. However he is still very young and has shown that he can be a good player, so hopefully with the manager who knows what he is doing, he can show his talent.

Not great in his first season for the price we paid, but still to early to tell. If he deliver a similar season next year then yes he would be a massive flop. Anyway i have a good feeling he will deliver in Ten Hags system.

I think I'm in the majority here but you just know he's going to be a big player. You can sense the talent he has on the ball.

Now, worryingly one of the last players who gave us all this feeling was Pogba back in 2016/17. It felt like it was just a matter of time didn't it? Either way, Sancho will be fine. ETH (or any coach for that matter) will love him. This guy is a future Ballon'Dor winner (again, I said this about Pogba as well but this time for real!)

Too early to say if he's a flop, but he's certainly been disappointing so far. Probably had just 2 or 3 games at 7/10 or higher.

That being said, this season has been an absolute write off.

How many players in world football would have looked a decent signing in this team this year? I’ve seen plenty of positives from him all things considered.

Absolutely not. As for no shortage of options: Martial, Lingard and Pogba were on their way out, Bruno is best centrally and Rashford's been struggling for over a year now. The situation with Greenwood has further highlighted our lack of quality depth on the wings. So with the departures this summer, we do need to sign another winger and Sancho should suit Ten Hag's tactics.

We do need a left winger considering that Martial is leaving probably and Rashford is shit so him being able to play there isn't an issue.

His performance has been mostly mediocre but to be fair it's hard to play well in such awful team surrounded by such awful atmosphere so I am willing to give him a 2nd chance under Ten Hag.

Tiny day nonsense in this thread. Be gone OP.

Very disappointing so far. I’ve rarely seen him have an outstanding game that would justify the price tag, but hopefully next season is the one.

We will know in a year I guess. We have spent a fortune and are paying him ridiculous amount of money that no one would ever pay for him. So hope he comes good. And is not another signing where fanboys will need to bend backwards to find excuses for him and need to blame his team mates/manager for not "unlocking" him.

At worst its too early to say. My gut feeling is that he's brilliant and we'll see it if we play football next season

Too early to say but it sums us up that we spent big on a right winger only to find out he would be better on the left.

We needed a midfielder way more than we did another left winger. Anyway he is here now and hopefully he can kick on next season.

Obvious attention-seeking thread. In before the lock.

He looks too slow and weak for the PL. For the massive wages he is on you would expect a lot more.
