Cleverley deserves to start. Can't drop Smalling after that performance. SAF has some tough decisions.

Young

Rooney
Berbatov

Would be nice to win our first away this season to destroy any doubts we may have after our disappointing showings last term.

1-2

Rooney 30'
Cleverley 90'

I'm struggling to see much reason to change the starting line-up from Community Shield.. I can see us going for a more orthodox Right Back in Rafael and maybe replacing Welbeck with Berbatov, but other than that it worked really well against City.

Rafael Ferdinand Vidic Evra
Nani Carrick Anderson Young
Rooney

The likes of Fletcher, Valencia, and Hernández will get back in, but this might be a game or two early for them. I'd like to think we'll smash them and I'm confident after today, but I'm going more for a somewhat edgy 1-2 win.

I hope Welbeck and Cleverley start but I imagine Giggs will start with Carrick in midfield and Berbatov will start with Rooney.

So so nervous about this.

Why? I know they gave us a tough game last season and our away form blew, but our forward line is looking so sharp I think we'll cut them up comfortably.

Fast interchanging positions in the final third is what we need away from home as well as movement and pace on the counter. I'd be tempted to ease Berba back in with a home game rather than an away one.

Team should be...

GK: De Gea

RB: Rafael
CB: Ferdinand
CB: Vidic
LB: Evra

RM: Nani
CM: Carrick
CM: Anderson
LM: Young

CF: Rooney
CF: Welbeck

Subs: Lindegaard, Smalling, Jones, Giggs, Cleverley, Park, Berbatov

Firstly just how good is our squad now, no room on the bench there for Fabio, Evans, Owen, Macheda, Valencia, Fletcher or Hernandez (albeit the latter 3 probably aren't in contention)

I'll go 1-2 to United, Rooney and Welbeck scoring

--------Rooney---Berbatov---------

Potentially a tough away game in our first fixture. It's hard to choose the starting eleven and subs now. I don't like leaving Welbeck out after today, and no room for Evans or Jones even though they played well when they came on today. We've good young lads and there's only so many you can put into the 18 man squad. I'm sure they'll all get their chance though, especially in Cup games.

One of West Brom's best players, Mulumbu, is out due to an injury to his abdomen.

Should make things a bit easier.

Its becoming harder and harder to make squads in the match day threads. We just have too many good players now.

Great problem to have. The CS squad was without Fletcher, Hernandez, Valencia, Owen, Macheda, Giggs, Fabio, and The One True Diouf. Hell, even Kuszczak, Amos and Gibson are cooling their heels.

Apparently Odemwingie is now struggling to return to fitness after an ankle injury. So that's their top scorer and their best midfielder both doubtful.

My West Brom supporting mate reckons there's a good chance either could make it, they just don't want to risk them in mid week friendlies.

De Gea

Rafael Rio Vidic Evra

Nani Cleverley Anderson Young

Rooney Welbeck

Regardless of age, we need to go with form, and Cleverley and Welbeck are bang in form at the moment.

I don't think we should play Smalling as a right back. He's better in the centre IMO. He had a good game v City, but Rafael is my first choice full back.

After a mouth watering preseason I have a feeling United is going to hit the ground running this campaign

Edit: I'm surprised the match day thread nazis havnt complained about using last seasons kit in the OP (not that I mind as it it far superior to this seasons)

It's Vida. They won't complain until he fails.

And the CL final doesn't count, cuz some tit started that before Vida could. It got deleted, but the curse was already in place.

Or fail to win when it really matters :(

Given our start I dont think we will hit the ground running, we cant possibly beat West Brom away, Spurs at home, Arsenal at home, Bolton away and Chelsea at home somewhere in there we'll drop points

Looking at those fixtures has one been moved? I dont remember us playing Spurs and Arsenal back to back, thought we had another away game in-between :/

It will probably be boring and be

De Gea
Rafael Ferdinand Vidic Evra
Nani Carrick Anderson Young
Rooney Berbatov

But I would love Cleverly and Welbeck to be involved, as much as I love Carrick.
