‘Injustice’: 92-year-old with dementia told by DWP to repay £7k in disability allowance

Yep, just tells you how stupid they think people are.I read a great comment on the Beeb about this that completely smashed the positive spin that they were trying to put on this news.
Basically it was along the lines of; "if bread is £1 and inflation in year one is 50% then the price goes to £1.50. In the second year when inflation drops to 25% it the price goes up to £1.87. Suddenly everyone starts telling me I should be happy because inflation has come down. But in reality, in the space of two years, the price of an essential item has gone up by 87%."

Wait, is it that low? I've only glanced at the various articles about this and none of them said how much she owed. They made it look like it was at least five figures. But don't forget the real scandal here; Angela Rayner might owe £1500 in unpaid taxes.

Kwarteng gets about a bit, doesn't he?
I think the estimate is somewhere between £0 and £3500.Wait, is it that low? I've only glanced at the various articles about this and none of them said how much she owed. They made it look like it was at least five figures.
People are rejecting the Tories and holding their nose and voting for Starmer. It’s a protest vote and nothing else. It will be the most hollow of victories and as soon as Labour are in power people will be clamouring to get them out.
The two polls show Starmer is winning by default and is hugely unpopular, that’s not a sustainable position to govern from.
Feels like a trap tbh your honourIs your position on an opposition leader being unpopular not being sustainable consistent?
Feels like a trap tbh your honour
they just wanted independence so they could pollute more.
With some recent polling showing Labour winning in Scotland I wonder if the SNP will start to drop it's ''progressive policy''. I guess the overall thing is capitalist are one of the worst ways to tackle climate change. We live in a country where the wind batters drains off houses four times a year, and the occasional storm that hits us weekly becomes headline news in England if it comes once everyone six months down there. Not to mention our beach front towns become flooded from high waves on any day that ends with a "Y".
How in the feck is it not possible, in this god forsaken shitehole of a country, to take advantage of that unless you've got pals in the North Sea drilling for oil?!
Tbh the polling wouldn't be so good Labour had a left wing winger. Starmer has fully dived into showing the British ruling class that Labour are a safe bet and there's now a level of comfortability with attacking the tory party. All of which is very depressing for anyone who cares about anything. What a time to have Starmer as leader.
We live in a country where around a quarter are a generation of cnuts who revel in the fact they own houses and had opportunities that the generations after them will almost certainly never get. Threatening them with the idea that the world will be demonstrably shitter for those who'll be around long after they have gone is frankly pointless.
The single proposed policy that has seemingly had any negative impact on a Tory PM is the dementia tax, because those same cnuts couldn't have done anything to prevent them being in a position where that affected them. If the policy was to begin 15-20 years from now, none of them would have cared and it'd have had zero impact on May's tenure or polling numbers.
When they're in their 50s and 60s they'll be able to put down a deposit on their first house.Their children will be afforded the same privileges/opportunities through inheritance.
GOOD NEWS!!! INFLATIONS COMING DOWN!!!!
But prices are still going up?
Yes, but the rate at which prices are going up is coming down, its 4% not 5%.
Completely mad story on Menzies. How on earth did he think he could get away with it? When did the Whips know and why did they only act when the story broke?

I think all he was doing is forcing her to explain properly to the average viewer who might have taken what she said at face value. He obviously understands that to be deceitful and misleading.Wasn't Ed in a position of power? What a nonsensical conversation. If people are too thick to understand what inflation is.... he's really not helping with bollocks presenting like that.
