Berbatov | Fulham player

Having 4 players to replace the goals of 1 is pretty counter-productive and sort of defeats the object. Yes, replacing Berba's goals will be piss easy, you would imagine the combined total of our team will be able to score 20 goals between them, but that's obviously not the issue.

When Ronaldo left we didn't replace his goals or the dynamic he gave the team, instead Rooney just scored more. Next season I think both Rooney and Hernandez will score more than last season and I believe Welbeck can contribute strongly as well.

What are you on about? Berbatov's not a 'CM', I've never heard a United fan call it the Theatre of Dreams, Ferguson has signed, or nearly signed, two players so far this close season, Jones and Young - both Brits, Macheda will either be away on loan or sold, calling Hernandez the little pea is irritating as feck, and who the feck is Cole?

Ah well, I'm off to bed.

I think you were half asleep before you read the post, I can't see anywhere I talked about Berbatov as a 'CM'. I was suggesting he and "Hernandez" are still a great option up front together and clearly the gist of the post was about Rooney possibly being considered for the role of central midfielder and therefore Berba should be kept on. Too tired to comment on that?

And perhaps after you have had some sleep you won't be quite so irritated by a reference to Old Trafford as something other than "OT" by someone who's supported the team longer than you've likely been alive.

Oh, and by the way, while "little pea" is perhaps by your "standards" absurd, that's what the little fella likes to be called, albeit in his language. So who the feck are you to criticize!

PS Yeah I fecked up, Ashley Young - Ashley Cole :o

Hope you had a good night. :smirk:

I'm still a bit shagged thanks, but nowt unusual there.
Sorry about the Berbatov bit, I read :
In defence of a reason to keep Berba, I'm getting "concerned" that we won't find a suitable international CM before August"
and I thought the juxtaposition of the words in a sentence meant they were somehow connected, silly mistake.

Call it theatre of dreams if you want then, I hadn't realised how incredibly old you are. I can't imagine what it must be like to get to your age and start to lose cognitive ability, but I suppose it'll come to me soon enough. Next year maybe?

I am waiting quite eagerly for any real updates on the Berbatov situation.

Either he signs or goes. But surely this must be sorted within the next few weeks

:D Cheers gambs! I just can't get the hang of it. I copy the embed code, then wrap the YouTube tags around it but I guess I am still doing something wrong.

Don't paste in the entire code. Here is the link to your vid:

All you need between the tags is the part after the v=, so in this case jSC6A0LkvII

If Berba goes which I'm actually in support of, he needs to be replaced with another striker to support Rooney and Hernandez.

That might already have happened....

true, sort of.

it's true though. Young, Valencia, Rooney can all play in the hole. And Nani could even play there too I reckon.

Then Hernandez, Rooney, Welbeck and Owen up top.

We would not be short on options if he goes.

Though I don't want him to.

Whilst i'm a great admirer of Berbatov, i'm not his number one fan, but if the club sell him this summer i'd feel a little bit sick to be honest.

Possible they may go for him if they sell Mata. I expect that there will be a resolution to Berba's situation in the next 10 days.

There's nothing on the Valencia sites I visit about interest in Berbatov and he doesnt really play the same roles Mata does. Also with Navarro and Miguel told they arent needed by the club and soon to leave, Mata will likely be Valencia captain next season so it would seem they wont need a replacement anyway

He needs to sign a contract if he wants to stay.

Same : Id rather have all the goals the others are going to score " piss easy " and the 20 from Berb each season, he is a frustrating genius at times, but he is our frustrating genius.

Berbatov is on his last year of his contract, and as far as I know he's our third highest earner. There is no way the club will let him play out his contract and leave as a Bosman. Zero chance.

The signs of him staying doesn't look good. He didn't take a major part in last seasons run in and I think it's quite established that he's our third choice striker. Not an ideal situation if you are one of the clubs top earner.

Another thing who would worry his agent is Sir Alex and Gills silence on the subject. We have read comment's from his agent several time's about his contract situation and that he's happy to stay. The clubs response is total silence. If you ask me that's not a good sign. It feels more like the club is trying to buy them self time.

If we judge from the last third of last season we are going for pace and quick counters. When we play 4231 SAF seems to prefer Roo/Chica and when the old man is going for 433 Berbatov will still be his third choice.

I don't think it's unwise to think it's waist of money (and talent) to have such a player on the bench for long parts of the season. And the proof that he wasn't selected to the bench in the CL final further proof my thought's that the Bulgarian is not in the clubs future plans.

The decisive point will be if any club is interested in a 30 years old third choice striker on very high wages. Many point out that he was PL best goal scorer but that didn't helped him in Mars, April and May. Sir Alex didn't thought that was worth anything when he selected our squad for the CL final.

If we don't handle him a contract extension before the pre season starts I think that's the sign of his future in this club. I can't see the reason to have weeks of speculations when we are on tour and want to galvanize and let the players come together.

I think the club is looking for one more player to buy and if we get that player and if we get a decent bid for Berba I think he's off.
