UK Riots (with the exception of Manchester which has its own thread)

feck off Biscuit you just ain't gangsta enough for a BB.

I fail to see how this is Blackberry's fault. It's just a fast, efficient and easy way of communication, what were the looters supposed to do, use carrier pidgeons? I'm sure if people were communicating via MSN messenger people wouldn't be bringing MSN into it. It's a great thing that they've said they will assist the police.

It's not, just that their devices use a secure network that the police would likely require a big nasty warrant to get access to. They're simply offering to cooperate with the investigation.

I think they are using BB as the Iphone requires the I-riot app.

How do you know the gold room isn't being run through BB Messenger?

Our reporter on the scene Mockney has called in to say Brixton is pretty quiet, with the area around the station all roped off with a load of people taking photos. Nandos is down. As is Boots. Electric Avenue is still rocking.

Thankyou Michael. Brixton's fine Sparky, but the High Road is still closed off from Bernardos on the junction of Stockwell Road to the KFC by the Ritzy...Everything else is still in effect. The Market/The main line train, busses etc...Just a lot of people milling around asking the police why they can't get into Maccy D's.

And yes, I rocked down to Electric Avenue. All is Irie.

We shall report back on the scenes around Westfield in Shepherds Bush.

Brings back memories of watching Ally Pally burn down.

Apparently that was caused by a gypsy curse. Well, that or some cnut setting an organ alight, depending how far back you want to go in the chain of causation.

Plech we're meeting in Shepherds Bush in half an hour or so... you around?

can you get me a KFC?

No the KFC is down. As is the Mac D's opposite it. They're the very edge of the cordon. And what seems to be causing the most annoyance. Especially as there are staff in the MacDonalds.

They have seemed to have mainly focused their Justice on fast food places, boots and phone and record shops...And of course Bus stops...Those damn evil bus stops have once again gotten what's coming to them.

There's a bike shop there I wouldn't mind chucking the odd brick at if that fits in with your plans?

Yeah, I want to smash up The Walkabout. It needs to be done.

Is this the shop where you bought your unlockable bike chain? They have wasted half an hour of my life and deserve to be punished.

It's about time some of the educated middle classes started rioting.

Take out a starbucks for me boys.

i say yes, more trouble tonight

and I'm putting my money on the shepherds bush area

If it were me, I'd riot in Harrods or Selfridges.

Get some designer jeans and a nice watch or five.

Starbucks, yes. And Costa and Nero for sure. Might torch a Waterstones and a few charity shops as well.

I went an got a Chinese on the way back Mike, but I'm heading to Junction now. If I bring the general south london vibe of fast food and bus stop hatred with me, it's your fault.

If you paid for that chinese Mockney you're a toff.

I did, but I only paid 3.50....I reckon that makes me bourgeoisie...I could still very well smash up a bus stop on my way down though.

Perhaps so, the bourgeoisie aren't indifferent to a little riot are they?

They didn't much like Strauss Waltz for example.

Now that's a riot in my opinion - those classic bastards have had it coming for a long time.

The proletariat riot in the streets cause more visual and physical damage. The bourgeoisie riot in the financial markets and destroy your future but as thats not happened yet then whose to know?

The bourgeoisie can't ruin my future, I've done a spectacular job of that myself doing an English Literature degree.

It's all starting to kick off again.

Hackney and Barnet according to reporters on Twitter (not randomers, journo's).

Has anyone heard from Sol since last night?

You don't think Gazza might have got to him? :nervous:

Just watching images from hackney now on BBC, it's about to really kick off, relatively small group at the moment in front of police, plenty of missiles being thrown just waiting for it to escalate

Apparently the problems in hackney being caused by a stop and search of someone who was then freely released

That police line is way too thin too
