UK Riots (with the exception of Manchester which has its own thread)

It alright people, Gazza is on his way to Tottenham with his fishing rod!

Why does everyone seem to be so concerned for Nando's here? It's a glorified McDonalds!

And TBGB =

What are you on about. I'm in my fifties, and I can tell you that good quality council housing was widely available, after a wait, and I personally went to university with a grant (not a loan, a grant) big enough to keep me pissed most of the time for three years. Go to bed, you're over-excited.

And when your generation rioted in response to social issues, say like the miners, did they band together and attack what was seens as a common enemy with the greater good of the masses in mind (in truth seeing the position as one of defending themselves) or did they go out robbing tellies and shoes?

Or they perceived that they would get rich, that is a fairly decent point. Though we could all sit here and come up with some very good explanations but ultimately this came about from some people protesting which became violent, and more and more thugs decided to get involved snowballing the situation, without any thought probably going into it.

I reckon they're just having 'a bit of fun', and most of them seem to be in their early teens. It's difficult to put a finger on it, though....I suspect a lack of a stable family life plays a part...and as PM pointed out a massive division between the haves and have nots must be another factor. But it's nothing new, it happened in the 70s and 80s(you could include hooliganism - gangs used to loot shops on their way out of towns), the difference this time being, there's more to steal. Kids and young people wanting what they can't afford. Some just enjoying the thrill of it.

From the moon, London's a little dot. From the ground, it's a huge mess! Like Dante meets Bosch in a crack lounge!

Sky reporter was also saying that his camera crew were attacked getting out of their van, they were throwing rocks at them, managed to smash the windows and stuff on the van

Well, lets face it, the last thing and self respecting protesters want is press coverage....

Jesus Christ, this poor guy who's family business has just been burned down is having to face some fully retarded questions from this gimp on BBC

As for looking to yesteryear, I referenced attitudes during the war (in response to the excuse of people growing up in hard times) to point towards a difference in societal attitudes between then and now

Pretty much everyone was in the same shit during the war, now the gap between the haves and haves not is huge and getting bigger, bet a lot of these kids have lost their EMA

I think the gimp doing an extraordinary job, pretty good at painting a picture of what happening tonight

Question: Have the police used any teargas in any of the riots so far?

Nope. In fact the whole lack of the police action is really, really bizarre.

"As you can imagine this has never happened to me before" :( :(

"What happens to your staff now?"

for feck sake, this is a few hours old, what the feck does he think this guy's been doing, analysing his business position and contacting his insurance company?
