UK Riots (with the exception of Manchester which has its own thread)

All pics I've seen from EDL demonstrations (and we've seen loads in the last few weeks with their ties to the Noggy terrorist) they've just looked like hooligans... a bunch of pathetic twunts looking to get a brawl going.

...I might be wrong...

Well done you fecking degenerates, a race war is exactly what the UK needs right now to cool things over.

Sky showed this same video earlier and made them out to be brave citizens defending the community despite the fact that the EDL chants could be heard clearly under the voice-over

]Japan is a country entrenched in morals, and I have no problem with immigration.

Without being too generalistic, it is also incredibly chauvinistic and also quite institutionally racist for a 1st world country. Especially in business. Presumably those two things haven't escaped your "moral" notice. By "moral" you mean in a deeply conservative way.

EDL are fecking retarded.

Nick Clegg this morning saying planned cuts to policing will still go ahead and wont impact on public safety...

I mean they have a very strong community spirit and principles on how to live which factors in to much lower crime rates than any major Western European or North American Country.

I really think they should bring in legislation that would mean that anyone convicted of rioting or looting as part of their conviction must forcibly enlist in the army and see active service once trained.

These people really don’t care about short term jail, or other penalties. Send them to Afghanistan and then lets see how hard they are.

And one thing they wont be able to do is back out and say "Oh, I cant go because I have a bad leg or a bad back" Nah, If you are fit enough to run up the street with a TV you are fit enough for this.

Time to get hard line with these idiots.

Anyone still disagree that the thing that's exacerbated this whole thing the most is the media? Said at the start that this would get huge if the media reported it extensively, and they've gone and done just that throughout its entirety. I doubt there would've never been so many copycat riots or repercussions had the media been more thoughtful in its approach to how their reporting would affect the country as a whole.

There's middle ground between a media blackout and how it's actually been handled.

We don't need to think up any new ways to deal with these idiots. Taking away their benefits or conscripting them into the bloody army isn't going to help matters at all. Round up as many as you can, put them through the courts and punish them as the law suggests. Anything else will be counter productive imo.

I just can't grasp the stupidity of posts like this.

 and you honestly think these cretins will willingly do as commanded? No way would I trust someone of this ilk, who is forced into combat, to not make rash and immoral decisions.

-That would make our army fantastic, look at the discipline these guys have shown, definitely will improve the army.

-Give them weapons training, and let them exeprience war, which will certainly have a positive mental affect on them.

-When we next riot, we can call the army in, which will be composed of past-rioters, who will either join in, or shoot the current rioters.

-Reducing peoples human rights completely have often been the forepoint of change.

To be fair, a few weeks in jail will be like a badge of honour to most of these lads.

I think they should be sent out to clean up the damage they've caused, in bright orange uniforms, then make them serve their sentences.

First things first, retroactive law is typically seen to be unconstitutional. Secondly, we have a very decent and professional army in which we entrust our national security, do you really want these idiots with warped ideas of the world involved in counter-insurgency and very sensitive peacekeeping operations where sensible personal conduct is vital?

The only active way to combat these guys is to convict them and then get them to work on the streets - pay them a proper wage. There are enough jobs that need doing. It may cost money but it's better than throwing them in prison which actually costs more.

There is this myth that the army can train out peoples indiscipline and make them right again. It's a load of tosh.

US style!

Good suggestion, unfortunately there's probably a clause in the Human Rights Act that considers the donning of garishly coloured clothing "cruel and unusual punishment".

Sort of, or jail them at night but send them out during the day to provide manpower to businesses they've tried to wreck.

Anythings better than have them sat on their holes for 6 months to then be released as some sort of heros.

Maybe it would give them some insight into the damage they've caused or what its like to have to get up and go do a job everyday.

The EDL have a march planned for this coming weekend, IIRC. Could be another weekend of hell especially in the areas that the EDL are marching. I think it is Stafford way but if they are going to behave in the way they did to that bus, it won't take much for something to kick off again
