UK Riots (with the exception of Manchester which has its own thread)

Kicking off in eltham? Neither news channel seems bothered.

BBC site saying 'Police bottled by large group of white males in #Eltham in southeast London. Situation under control. NOT a riot.'

Japan has a higher poverty rate than either the US or the UK.

It is at a similar level to the UK and US but Japan is a very moralistic country with very low crime rates - the poor therefore live in more amicable environments than they do here on in the US.

They have a very strict legal code, prisons are horrendous by our standards and the police are quasi independent to enforce the law. The ACLU and Liberty would go crazy but the Japanese people live in a liberal democracy and voted for the Liberal Party of Japan for fifty years straight.

Is the same party for 50 years actually democracy though? It's suspicious to say the least.

Even the yanks vote for a new family once every couple of generations.

Also, those matches which have gone ahead, including in Leeds and Notts, have been fine, and the cricket's gone ahead with no probs.

An aside that occurred to me when thinking about the internationals which went ahead... how come there doesn't seem to have been a hint of trouble in Scotland or Wales?

.

I think you mean conservative. And I don't it's as conservative as it used to be...well according to Visitor Q and Takashi Miike that is.

A ery moralistic country that have soiled girls knickers vending machine.

My cousin says there's trouble again at the Morrisons where he works in Handsworth close to West Brom. Maybe our fixture might get cancelled.

Someone raised the question about why it hadn't kicked off in Glasgow, a city known for deprivation and violence.

Someone then raised the valid counter-point that Glasgow was the city where a burning suicide bomber got punched in the face.

I used to think that was a myth till a mate of mine sampled some for himself. By moralistic, I think Bryan means anti-immigration.

2 murdered 5mins from my house sky breaking news, is not riot related though.

Nice messages from that artist and good to see people from all communities and colours acting appropriately and peacefully.

 It's not like it's just one person holding a candle, was quite a lot as of people aswell.

Some of the crap people come up with is astonishing, Japan is a country entrenched in morals, and I have no problem with immigration.

Lots of anger in the Birmingham community where the lads died. People are upset at police tactics and why the this wasn't stopped when it broke out in Tottenham. Also anger at PM, MPs, councillors & larger broadcasters for failing to communicate with their community.

They seem very angry but keep saying they are not there to riot, start race-riots or cause violence - they just want results.
