Tbh, i don't think our defending this season has been that impressive. I mean, we are imperious going forward, but the number of gaps at the back has been astounding. Fair play to Basel and the 2-2 scoreline now is totally justified. Can't wait for Smalling and Vidic to be back.

Smalling is the better defender between him and Jones. I'd argue the better talent as well, but it's all hype around Jones right now with his great runs and shit... he's a fecking defender first.

Nope, but he had to cover that player and at least force him to go wide. Had Evra been there Rio would've been in a better position to mark the man since he wouldn't have to cover all crossing areas alone.
