Manchester United vs. FC Basel

You don't know with Rio, but he could hold up. I also love it when people use words such as concerned and worried. Is your hair going grey over it? What they hell is there to worry about? It is what it is, you need to learn to accept it for what it currently is in all of its manifestations. I'm with Brian Clough though on this one, as I think that in a 4-4-2 the defensive midfielder thing is a load of claptrap - if your two centre backs cannot deal with two centre forwards, then they shouldn't be there or you shouldn't be playing a 4-4-2. The fullbacks tonight though were awful!

Jesus feck, it's a figure of speech. I'm not up all night sweating and clinging to my teddybear.

yes but i prefer the players to play with defensive responsibilities - old footy adage - if you cant get back - dont go forward. yes i'm pessimistic but i prefer not to lose. and be patient and wait for the chance - in certain games.

basle proved they could play - in the first half. the players should have realised that and adjusted accordingly - they attacked and were nearly undone by rope a dope.

Well, we'll just have to agree to disagree...I don't think we need a player who gets stuck in..and all that, rather a player who can keep the ball...and knit things together in midfield. We looked like headless chickens in the middle against Chelsea and all.

I agree with you. But I think we could wo with both types of players. It's nothing new neither. I just don't know why we haven't adressed the CM problem as of yet. I mean we got youngsters like CLeverley and Pogba coming through but it will take some time for them to play constantly on a high level, I'm not even sure Pogba will make it; I haven't seen enough from him.

Banega and Goetze would be a fecking dream to have in CM.

Basel getting all 3 points wouldve put us in a terrible position. So the result in the end is a lot better than what it couldve been.

Not really bothered about the performance. Lack of motivation/complacency whatever it was, it is unlikely to directly affect us in the league.

Where does it leave us in the group and our chances of finishing top?
It's still only matchday 2 but i fear a little bit for a "final" in Basel.

6 points against Galati in the next games or we're in big trouble in this group!!!!!

We all know what happend in the 2005-2006 season.
