Patrice Evra accuses Luis Suarez of making racist remarks 'to try to wind me up' during #lfc-#mufc. Tonight on #CanalPlus, 22.35.

Evra on Suarez: 'There are cameras, you can see him say a certain word to me at least 10 times. No place for that in 2011.' #lfc #mufc

Evra expects action to be taken regarding his Suarez racist comments accusation: 'The referee is aware of what was said.' #lfc #mufc
Hmm.

That explains Paddy's anger, and rightly so, Suarez is an utter, utter twat.

Guilty until proven innocent?

I'm fairly sure Sir Alex will have spoken to Evra about this and given him the all clear to speak about it. Because it is a big allegation.

This.

Although hot-headed at times I'm fairly certain Evra wouldn't accuse someone of being racist unless there's some truth to it.

Evra was pretty pissed off at the time, I'd imagine there's a select few words which both a Frenchman and a Uruguayan can understand.

What was he supposed to have said? And surely if the ref was aware of it during the game, he would have acted in some way.

He looked more than the normal 'nutty Evra wound up"

And as said above, you don't just make up allegations like these as they are serious.

I don't see why Paddy would accuse a player of something like that just for kicks, so yeah.
I agree.
Evra wouldn't have fabricated allegations of racism, no incentive whatsoever. Beacuse people won't believe it unless they have video evidence of the most blatant racism. And even then they're trying to deny it with lip-readers and silly shit.

I believe Evra.

Evra was really really pissed off with him, I was sure something had been said and I guessed it was that.

That's a serious allegation. Suarez is toast if its proven true.

Big allegation, but as others say, I don't think SAF would have allowed Evra to talk about it if it was just Evra being petulant. Suarez will go down a lot in my estimation if true, diving is one thing but this would be another level of twattishness.

Let's just wait and see what happens. We have no idea what was said, and it's not that difficult to mishear something in a heated/noisy environment and get the wrong end of the stick. If this were the other way around and one of our players was being accused of racist abuse by a Liverpool player, I'm sure we'd be taking a more sensible approach.

As I said, let's just wait and see what evidence emerges.

If it's true that he said it ten times and the referee knows then surely action will be taken?

And Evra got booked about 2 minutes after the incident

Brilliant ref

That doesn't really matter. If Evra did it as a result of being called something racist then he should be booked, because someone called you a name it doesn't give you the right to react violently, there are more appropriate measures. Having said that, Suarez should definitely be punished for it, especially if he was caught on camera saying it 10 times. There's just no place for that in the modern world, let alone the modern game... it's out of order.

Suarez has never come across smelling of roses though has he, and he's an ugly cnut too. He's got a face I actually enjoy hating so I can believe this for sure. I just hope if it's true something gets done about it.

Evra said he used the remarks several times. Why would Evra bring himself and United into trouble by making this up?

I didn't obviously see/hear what he said. But would like to think Suarez didn't say anything racist but you'd think Evra wouldn't lie about this. This is a pretty big allegation so if people are saying video proof needs to be seen then people can't act surprised.

Will be interesting to see where this goes.

I guess we're going to see whether the "kick racism out of football" campaign has any bollocks about it.

Didn't John Terry get away with something similar when tevez was a united player?

Woah people let's clarify a few things. Evra said the ref's aware, this could mean Evra told the ref not that the ref heard. Also there is no proof the camera's caught it, Evra is simply saying that Suarez said it 10 times and he expects a camera to have caught it which is doubtful as I believe the incident happened at a set piece.

EDIT: It appears it may have indeed been caught as per Feeky's post with the pic. Evra looks ready to spark him there.

I assume it was the N word

Not going to write it

Fair enough. He should be punished if true. If the ref knew about it during the game, he should have been paying extra attention. Then again, maybe he was.

Its not the first time Evra has accused people of using racists/xenophobic words.
The last time Evra was called a liar by the FA, I doubt they will believe him unless its on video.

Oh shut up, racist allegations are serious business. This wasn't Evra's first 'Pool game or a game where he had a tiff with another opposition player. He's had plenty of serious altercations in the past but he's never pulled the race card out. Have a little faith in your players.

I assume he knows there is video evidence. As said before, it's a massive accusation to make - and one almost certainly permitted by the club.

This is not about 'faith in your players'.

If this was the other way round i would be very sympathetic to a Liverpool player.

Goes beyond club loyalties, i'd of hoped that goes without saying.

Lets hope this is transparently cleared up.

Bet it aint!

It's not doubtful. When there's a corner I imagine there are two cameras pointing at the corner, one shot is wide and the rest of the cameras that follow the game are in the box. They had at least two cameras well zoomed in around De Gea because there was always a lot of action there and that's where Evra and Suarez were clashing.
Just because it didn't show on tele doesn't mean that they don't have it on tape.

Since it's a racist remark claim than the FA will definitely look into it as the league prides itself of being clear of racism and having a zero tolerance policy on it. I don't think they can ban him from hearsay and video alone. If no one else but Evra heard it I don't think anything can be done.

Just thinking about it, does Liverpool have any "black" players in their squad (I can't recall any ATM)? Would have been interesting on the training ground if proven true!

I doubt Evra would make shit like this up, knowing how serious this issue/allegation is. I hope that cheating twat gets a 6 month ban if true.

If the ref heard it, shouldn't he sent Suarez off or was it the linesman who heard it?

Evra said he used the remarks several times. Why would Evra bring himself and United into trouble by making this up?

I haven't suggested that he's making it up. I've recognised the possibility that he misheard whatever it was Suarez said to him, especially if it was said in Suarez's native tongue. All we have at the moment is an accusation, to presume guilt without any evidence is unreasonable.

Which strengthens my stance more than it does yours.
