Manchester United vs. FC Oțelul Galați

fecks sake Rooney in the middle.

Why do we keep dicking him around. Before it was by playing him on the left. Play our best player in his best position.

Have to agree with this. The team is very strong, strong enough not to need Wazza in the middle. Fergie might even have rested him and played 'Ji' or even Pogba.

Rooney and Anderson in the middle :wenger:

Not necessarily, could be Valencia in the middle and Rooney on the left. Ferguson did say earlier in the season that he considers Valencia an option in centre midfield.

I love seeing Rooney in midfield because he makes it look so easy, but he's definitely best as a striker.

Good team though; that's set up for a spanking.

We have "tried things out" against lots of small teams in europe the past few years and struggled. Besiktas and Basle come to mind...

With all due respect - Basel and Besiktas are head and shoulders above this rumanian team in quality. Basel have several highly experienced players both at club and international level

Valencia plays in the middle for his country.

My only concern is Rooney tries too hard gets sent off or gets injured if he starts getting frustrated.

Rooney is well able to be the best player on the pitch in CM. His passing, both short and long, is superb. Combined with his reading of the game, energy and tenacity, he could easily be one of the best CM in the world if it was his position. It just so happens that he's best up front, but I don't see the point in panicking that he's in CM against Galati at home  Owen and Berbatov are more than good enough up front.

Uh, you mean the United team that hasn't lost a group game in Europe since Besiktas a couple of years ago?

We played Basle a few weeks ago and should have lost. Or do you forget these things? Anyway like i said, we should win quite comfortably tonight but i would not be too surprised if they make harder work of it.

Why do they persist with Wilkins as commentator?

Fergie's team selections make me doubtful sometimes. But he has balls and trust in the players. They surely won't let him down tonight.

At least Berbatov and Owen are being given more game time. They've been very patient. Oh and Evra get's a deserved rest, so it's time for Fabio to put more pressure on him. I also wouldn't rule out Pogba making his CL debut if things go well.

So we lost a game a few years ago, and played badly in another, and that's struggling against small teams? Well, you have very high standards, sir. Thank god you support a team that has done so well.

Rooney and Anderson in midfield....and people say we don't need to sign any midfielders.

Glenn Hoddle talking rubbish ATM.. saying we never had this kind of injury problem in defence.. I remember we playing the champions of Bundesliga Wolfsburg with Fletch and Carrick at CBs..

Great team that now really looking forward to the game!

Sir Alex Ferguson confirms that Michael Carrick is not playing due to injury.
