Manchester United v Sunderland AFC

Evra won't be playing either because the death of his brother. funeral this weekend, R.I.P :(

RIP
maybe thats why Fryers was off at HT in the reserves game last night

So that's Evra, Anderson, Giggs, Young, Cleverley, Smalling, Owen and maybe Rafael and Carrick missing.

At least we're back to the top of the page on physioroom.com...

Park and Fletcher in midfield then, maybe Pogba and/or Morrison may make the bench.

HELP !

I am meeting a Sunderland fan pre-match, he's staying at The Copthorne, how easy is it to get into Sam Platts - approx 12.30 - and do they have Sky Sports ?

If not, alternatives ?

cheers in advance for any heads up

apologies for going slightly off topic.

de Gea
Jones Ferdinand Vidic Fábio
Fletcher Park
Valencia Rooney Nani
Hernández

Or

de Gea
Fábio Ferdinand Vidic Evans
Jones
Fletcher Park
Nani Rooney Welbeck

Fryers and Pogba/Morrison have a good shot at the bench, but that might depend on the fitness of Rafael and Carrick.

I think Nani will be on the bench, we'll play Welbeck on the wing again. Nani form isn't good and has two important matches for Portugal.

I figured the reason why he didnt play for the reserves last night is that he is needed for Saturday, although probably on the bench

.

I cant see Fegie resting Nani cause of important games in midweek for portugal.

Evra's brother actually died right before the City game, he's done very well to soldier on the way he has

-------------The Gay
Jones-----Rio------Vida----Evans

Val----------Rooney-------Welbz

Would like to see Berba start, but Hernandez and Welbeck were on the bench midweek. So guessing they are likely to get a start tomorrow

If Carrick cant make it, then maybe Park in his place. Or Fabio at RB and Jones with Fletch and Rooney helping out.

And Gibson is back in training. Its very unlikely that he will be involved so soon, but if other injuries mean he gets a place on the bench, then I'd love to see him come on and score.

They're likely to have Bardsley, turner and Richardson in their backline. If we struggle against that, we have serious problems.

Would be nice to see a 433 again.

..............De Gea
Jones....Rio....Vida....Evans
..............Fletcher
........Carrick.....Park
Chicharito Rooney Welbeck

Was it not? I recall Chicharito being on the right and Welbeck on the left.

What was it then?

As I recall...

.........Fletcher
....Park....Cleverley
Chich Rooney Welbeck

It was more like 4-1-4-1 with Fletcher as DM, Hernandez as striker and Welbeck, Cleverley, Rooney and Park in midfield.

I found this nice chart on the average position of each player.

Everton v Manchester United: live - Telegraph [click the 'team stats' tab on the chart on the right]

It looks something like this:

......................1......................
..............................................
...............15..........6................
..............................................
......4......13......24................3..
..........................23.................
.......................10.14................
......................................19.....

So it actually looks like Rooney was more on our right than Chicharito, though even Rooney is slightly to our left overall. Park, Vidic and Jones are the only starters to spend more time on our left than our right!

I could see that looking like a 4312 based on that.

Jones Vidic Evan Evra
.....Park....Fletcher
.........Cleverley
..........Rooney
......Chich....Welbeck

I get the idea that players don't play as much in formations as we think. But I'll happily bow to anyone who claims a strong understanding of formations. I can see 4141 makes sense too.

So who'll play in midfield tomorrow? Jones or Rooney?

Fergie mentioned something about Park. So my guess is Park and Fletcher.

Well he improved the midfield when he came on midweek so I won't complain too loudly. I don't like him in the middle at all though.

It was more like 4-1-4-1 with Fletcher as DM, Hernandez as striker and Welbeck, Cleverley, Rooney and Park in midfield.

While Cleverley was on the pitch, it was much more like a 4-3-3 (or 4-1-2-3 if you're picky). Welbeck and Park did not play like wide midfielders in a flat four-man midfield, they were deployed more centrally, closer to Hernández.

Hey Yanks, I don't see this on FSC or ESPN2. That's a rare one. Am I missing something?
