Manchester United vs. Benfica

You moved to Aus from England?

There's a great highlights show once a week which kept me sane when I did the same. Don't think I ever caught any live matches though. Far too lazy.

Moved from Ireland.

Yeah the highlights show on a Monday is good and even the coverage Fox has of all the games and the endless repeats of games too. I'm just not set up properly here yet with TV and all the rest of it, only just got here really.

It was a joke, Pogue, calm down. I posted a silly line-up, wrote out some tactical notes which I made up as I went along, and somehow all you gimps seem to have taken it seriously.

On a serious note though; I can't believe you Ihni binni dimi diniwiny anitaime fell for those fake tactical notes, shows how much you know about Benfica before you post your line-ups

In my defence, whenever Berlinknives gets involved in a discussion about formation/tactics it all gets so fecking surreal it's hard to tell the piss-taking from the genuine lunacy.

Ah. I moved from Ireland too. Was living with a passionate Liverpool fan. He was a massive drinker/smoker so we were usually too blootered to get up at the crack of dawn and watch football together. Which was probably a blessing in disguise.

I think SAF will go with a tried and tested Euro set up, which will mean a 4-3-3, certainly at the start to get bedded in to the game.
------------DDG------------
----Jones/Vidic/Rio/Evra----
----------carrick-----------
------Fletcher/Park---------
Nani-----------------Giggs
----------Rooney-----------

Will be a close game, Benfica are a good technical team, but I expect us to do enough to win. 1-0 again. Vidic header from a corner in the 2nd half.

If we play Giggs again so soon, surely it won't be on the wing.

Expecting a rather boring European performance from us. 1-0.

 Can't believe he fell for the bait to be honest.

Serious Pogue is....SERIOUS.

The injuries (or lack of fitness due to only a recent return to training) to Welbeck, Smalling, Rafael, Cleverley, Anderson, Gibson, Owen, and Macheda, along with Vidic's suspension make the match day squad for this pretty straightforward IMO - bar the last bench spot, the first 17 pick themselves as they're the only fit first choice players.

If none of the above make it, it'd probably be Diouf on the bench. If not, then it's Fryers, Morrison, or Pogba (assuming he's allowed in our CL squad now). I just hope there's no surprises with the fitness of Evans, Young, or Rooney.

Let's just hope that SAF doesn't read the caf, or else he too might read my fake tactical notes on Benfica and be made to look an idiot of just like Pogue when he plays three at the back thinking he's being crafty :(

Has it been reported that Nani did the press conference yesterday with SAF?

I'd be surprised if he didn't start then.

I think I saw a stat the other day that every player Ferguson has taken into a Champions League press conference this season hasn't started the subsequent match.

Rooney not on the team coach according to SSN

Will be interesting to see how we do without him against a good side like Benfica. Is Welbeck 100 fit for this? If not, Hernandez on his own up front.

Don't panic Mr. Mainwaring.

I'm absolutely sure that Ravel will make the bench today.
