Berbatov | Fulham player

Plays so much more confident when he scores.

He is trying those nice touches and flicks when he's like this. I love it.

The chance he missed wasn't as easy as was made out in the match thread imo.

After the goal he was brilliant, his touch is sublime.

No it wasn't an easy one. Gronkjær said unfortunately for Berbatov and Man Utd the ball came a little behind him so it was difficult to hit.

He was great. Miss wasn't that easy but with his technique he should have been keeping it down.

I would love to talk about this, he played well an 8 out of 10

But I am too gutted with the result

Played well. Couldn't have asked for more other than his second chance hitting the target.

He took it pretty well but obviously not well enough. It looked like the ball was a bit behind him. I'll have to watch the replays. Shame it didn't go in.

What is frustrating is how he was isolated for a large part of the first half. SOme of our pass decisions were pretty poor then, and imo, this has got to be the match this season with some of the worst corners and crosses we've had.

Fergie:
"He's always been involved," said the manager. "He's not had the starts but that's all to do with the partnerships we've had this season.

"He's done very well tonight and could've scored a hat-trick. It was a bad decision when he was flagged offside in the first half - it was never offside. And he missed an opportunity near the end, he was a bit unlucky but maybe he could've taken it down.

"Nonetheless, he played very well and there's always a goal in Dimi, always the ability to turn a game. That's why I played him. He's always in my thoughts."

Strange game. I'm not sure he even touched the ball until he scored, but after that he was excellent for a good while. Can't say I blame him for missing that chance.

should start against Newcastle over the weekend too. He needs games atm as the December fixtures are coming and I see him playing a big role

just saw the replay, i thougth that goal was offside imo, we got lucky with it.

Looking at his miss, it was slightly behind him and to the left. Not quite on a plate, but the fact he hit it first time has me smiling. Goals like these from his Spurs days are due to the technique in his first time shot on 37 seconds:

Nowadays I feel he's too hesitant to pull the trigger for whatever reason. Clearly he was relied on for goals then, but he still needs to score now even if its not imperative

Great performance by him last night. Led the line well and a great header for the goal.
The best part was he was staying up top as much as he could instead of coming too deep.
It was only when Hernandez was brought on that he started to come deeper into midfield.

The goal he scored against Charlton remains my favorite of his in a spurs shirt. absolutely brilliant.

Looked great yesterday night. Lets hope he can kick on. can really add a great dimension to our game when on song.

His best game in a long time, looked dangerous every time that he got the ball. Shame about the miss at the end, but to be fair it was a difficult enough chance.

he should take free-kicks once in a while. especially when very close to the penalty area. we haven't utilized him much on that front (one could argue that about a number of things, but considering that a lot of other attacking players have taken free-kicks and even Anderson has, Berba should take command once in a while)

He played well last night for sure, and I'm glad he did cause the slack he got on here before the game was outrageous.

He should've taken the chance but he's never been the sort of striker who takes every chance he gets.

Not a bad point, but surely that must be down to what the players show in training.

Should definitely get a run of games now. He's looking good and after today's performance, feeling good as well probably.

This one I struggle with, part of me says yes, part no.

The part saying no is simply because I just don't rate the Berba/Rooney partnership so highly.

The part saying yes is because he played well last night and feck me he's good to watch when he plays like that, a couple of beautiful back heels had me purring.

you are right, but (i think this may have been argued earlier), he was a regular at Spurs (i mean at set-peices). are the other substantially better than him? i guess it just shows that the step up from Spurs to United is actually a pretty decent one.

Not in matches they aren't, certainly not. But as I said, they must show something in training.

There in the problem lies though, training and matches are completely different. I wouldn't mind seeing Berba on a few free kicks.

It's odd really, Nani must be banging them in during training since he's still taking most of our freekicks from distance like Ronaldo, but in matches his freekicks are about the poorest I have seen from a supposed free kick taker.
