FC Basel Vs Manchester United

Fairy tales this, if the players don't have the extra bit of magic in them, you can scream your head off and shit will happen. We need a play maker. Sad that we have to play Giggs for that.

Why's that 'sad' you silly arse?
He's made two penetrative passes through to Rooney already...

We just suck at the moment, It's a good thing we haven't actually played anyone half decent lately.

Not seen much of us this season?

This is far and away more frustarting/stressful then anything else this season... banging on the Newcastle door might push it close, but I had the feeling that wasn't our day anyway.

This is there for the taking...

If I was Fergie I'd take that mic out of Keano's hands and walk him down the tunnel into our changing rooms. We're missing a personality like him or Neville to let the lads hear what they need to hear.

We can do this. Wish he had've brought Wellbeck on instead of Evans. Basel arent a threat going forward and will sit on this lead. We need more movement up front and more targets for Nani's crosses.

It's the stupid rotation policy. Every year Fergie rotates the squad in the first part of the season to keep them fresh the second part but that always cost United in poor results. The Liverpool draw for example. It's a miracle that this hasn't cost United more other years. Still the United players usually drop like flies in December/January making the rotation pointless. Oh well we might be spared from embarrassment in the next round of CL. Can't they beat a team that loses players and coaches to the likes of Club Brugge, Olympiakos and Hamburg they don't deserve to progress.

He seems somewhat not bothered, doesnt he? Would expect him to attack the ball on the first post on that great Nani-cross. It's our attack overall though. Noticed when Nani passed those two players and the only player in their box was Rooney? We're never going to score if our players dont get into scoring positions.

We're showing good tendencies though, but something is lacking. Horrible to lose Vidic like that aswell, now that we're finally able to play a settled back four. Not only Champions league, but our entire season might go with that injury. Hopefully Evans will step up, and we should hope that Vidic should be back soon. We've seen that players are able to step up in the absense of key players in the past, but losing our captain is a huge blow.

We should get Welbeck on and either Young or Park off to get some movement up top.

Welbeck absolutely needs to come on if we're going to go through.

We will win by three goals. They are shit and will tire. I have seen the future and United go through, City go out with Villarreal losing 1-0.

My half time assessment.

We dominate posession and get some great chances but dont really look as likely to score as I would have liked.. :/ Giggs is wasteful as predicted but still looks the most likely to create something (like the great ball to Rooney), and Basel dont look dangerous at all and just give the ball straight back, so I like the attempted high-risk passes rather than just rolling the ball around without any final product.
Rooney hasnt been enough involved. Park and Jones doing their defensive stuff well. Young continuing his poor form ...

They score from their only real chance. Whining about the head injury is grasping at straws. The goal came like 3 seconds after Smalling went to ground.

We need to just grind on - 1 goal is all we need, and we look like we can get it. Will get cagey if we dont score before 75 minutes. And we dont really have any impact subs available. Will be a fecking wreck this half..

Jesus! 1 minor mistake and people (and I mean the so-called experts and commentators) are already calling for De Gea's head and us still not replacing Van der Sar.

1 little mistake > 10 good saves
That's De Gea's story atm

Out of interest is there anyone who would have taken Young over Mata this summer?

After a great start to the season Young has got worse and worse while Mata is fast becoming the best player at the renties.

We need a world class creative midfielder, tonight is proving it. Possession is feck all if you can't do anything with it.

Right now, we're out of the Champions League and City are in it. That is fecking depressing.

We will win by three goals. They are shit and will tire. I have seen the future and United go through, City go out with Valencia losing 1-0.

Forseen wrong then because Valencia aren't in City's group. FFS even Hectic's fecking up now. Worse day ever so far.

That in itself isn't so bad. It's football on Thursdays and then np games on Saturdays which would be terrible. I hope we go out of the Europa League in the next round.

All three goals they've scored against us have been gifted to them. They're hardly a great team, probably one of the most annoying things about this.
