I hope he plays vs QPR. I'd love him to cover up for Fletcher's absence

As promising as Pogba is he's not ready to play from the start of a game yet. That's fairly clear from watching the Carling Cup games he played. Gibson would be a better choice at the moment, if you don't want to play Jones and Carrick there.

At the expense of Jones or Carrick?
You're kidding right? You do realise that losing Fletcher has meant we've lost a midfielder, who's place we'll need someone to fill up for the rest of the season don't you? Surely that must mean we need someone to cover Jones and Carrick, rather than replace them.

Why else do you think there is this clamour for us to buy in January?

You said you hope he plays tomorrow, I'm simply asking who you'd be dropping tomorrow.

Mate I want him as cover, meaning I want him as the first man off the bench vs QPR. Gibson doesn't come into the picture because he is injured and he also isn't a holding player, so can't be considered as a man to cover up for Fletcher's absence for the rest of the season.

Then I simply didn't communicate accurately what I meant to be fair. I simply meant I want him be a first off the bench vs QPR. Plus the man for us to turn to to fill up Fletcher's squad place for the rest of the season, rather than buying a player in Jan. .

Well you're wrong then. Rooney said himself that he turned round to his agent and said that he didn't want to continue messing about, telling his agent to just get the contract signed.

So you can provide proof that he signed the contract that was originally offered to him?

I'm pretty sure Fergies story matched. Or are they both in on this together?

Yeah, Fergie is likely to admit that the club caved and offered him more money.

That wouldn't set a dangerous precedent at all.

Pogba wants to be a first-team regular at United

Paul Pogba is driven by one goal - to become a first-team regular at United.

The promising midfielder has had a taste of senior action in the Carling Cup and admits he is hungry for more chances to impress Sir Alex. After returning to top form in the Reserves' 4-0 win against Liverpool, the youngster has his eyes firmly fixed on stepping up a level again in 2012.

"It's very good [here]," he told MUTV. "I'm getting in the first team and I enjoy it a lot. I have to carry on and try to play more games.

"[My debut at] Leeds was a great feeling. I played away, in a derby as well, and came on for Ryan Giggs. I thought: 'Okay, now is a good chance to prove myself and to show them what I can do'. We won that game and it was a very good feeling.

"I told myself I've just tasted it, now I want to eat it - I want all the cake now! I want to play, work hard and do my best to get in the first-team squad."

Pogba aspires to making a real mark at Old Trafford, following in the footsteps of many of his fellow countrymen - such as Eric Cantona, Fabien Barthez and Patrice Evra.

"I think you grow up a lot at United," he admitted. "I came from France. I'm here and I know what I want to do. I just want to be a first-team player, a great player here and that's it. I want to play with the first team."

Yup this interview was done before the Crystal Palace match.

Not too worried really, I think he'll end up signing. Fergies interview states we have an option in his contract and so it isnt an emergency, so that is probably a year add-on to his current deal that we can bring into effect I guess?

He is a great prospect, but not ready for the first team just yet.

He's probably the best midfield prospect that's come out of the youth team since Scholes/Beckham in all fairness though.

Ravel Morrison is better than him, Sharky.

Nothing I've seen from either Pogba or Morrison tells me they are currently at the level where they can make a bigger impact in the team then Gibson. ( I like many others wanted them to be ready, but it's clear they aren't there yet)

I don't think either are ahead of Gibson, they both have the potential to be and you have to ask yourself is it worth offering them the time rather than Gibson and the answer should be a resounding yes.

That said, I do think Morrison's technical attributes could offer us a different and much needed option that Gibson cannot. His movement is much better and while he might still be a little naive positionally.... Gibson is downright awful in that area. I'd rather play Morrison right now in a midfield 3 than Gibson in a midfield two, that's for sure. In fact, I wouldn't even want Gibson in a midfield 3 because he's not technical enough to play the attacking role and his positional awareness and pace are too poor to play the holding role.

He's just an average midfielder really.

Anyway, I've gone a bit off course in the Pogba thread. Personally I'd still play Gibson ahead of Pogba right now. I think he needs a loan before he's anywhere near a competitive match.

So the club website have regurgitated an old interview and put it as one of their "new" stories. Sound reporting lads.

That would be great. Hopefully we can get this entire thing over with, and let the boy concentrate on improving.

Get a life Sean. This twitter update thing is just printing wild rumours from the tabloids as a day or two ago it says.....
Todays Rumours - Benfica's Nicolas Gaitan is in talks with Manchester United over a £25m move, according to his agent. #MUFC
21 Dec
Then goes onto say today.....Chief executive David Gill emphatically stated the chances of Gaitan moving to Old Trafford are zero. #MUFC

Man United have dismissed links with Nicolas Gaitan, and seem baffled by claims that they are in talks with Benfica. #MUFC

So....Its hardly some ITK fan that is getting info from an insider! Wasting your time posting twitter rubbish as breaking news on here!

Although it's from Twitter, do you actually think we're going to put it out there that we are having talks with Gaitan? Are we that obvious about our business?

I dont really know what your on about but I was just showing that taking a random twitter account as a good source of some ITK that is in the know is a joke as this particular twitter account says one day that we have an agreement to sign Gaitan and then next day they say its just a laughable rumour. So it seems like a pretty sad place to get football rumours from!

im not talking about the random twitter account. it's what the papers have done anyway. Just mentioning the fact that our club isn't going to do our business out in the open hence why we see reports of United not being interested in Gaitan

Of course he's going to sign.

Well done, all the three updates are no wild rumors. All three of them came from either Gaitan's agent, David Gill and the last one was from United which was on SSN, Guardian, Mail etc.

Even with so many injuries Pogba can't even appear on the bench, its says a lot about Fergie trusting him at the moment.I wish Fergie would have taken a bit more risk regarding thrusting youngsters into the first team.

Fergie knows best.

If he was ready he would play.

It's not like Fergie doesn't give youth a chance.
