Evra accuses Suarez of racist remarks | Suarez guilty of racial abuse

Brilliant quote from RAWK on why they may win an appeal.

The Independent Regulatory Commission announced its decision on 20 December 2011, which is as follows:

Mr Suarez used insulting words towards Mr Evra during the match contrary to FA Rule E3(1);
the insulting words used by Mr Suarez included a reference to Mr Evra's colour within the meaning of Rule E3(2);

so its insulting words with a reference to his colour, so unless they have evidence that said word was 'offensive' then the club have a very strong case at an appeal

Can you have insulting words that are not offensive?

So he'll miss the game at OT?

Impossible to tell. His ban won't start until after 14 days, so the game after City will be the first match he's banned for. That's if he doesn't appeal - if he does, feck knows when the ban will start and how long it'll be.

I think 8 games is a fair punishment. I wonder what the chances of a public apology are, even to say sorry if offence was caused but I didn't understand the context.

I'm also reserving judgement on the FA's actions until after the appeal.

Big news, solid precedent. Hope Evra puts this behind him as he seems to have done already. feck Suarez, Dalglish and Liverpool FC.

Wouldn't be surprised if John Terry cried himself to sleep tonight...

I am assuming this covers all domestic (all then) matches, this therefore puts him out of contention until the second leg of the Carling Cup semi against Man City on 25th January.

If it covers just the premier league then it means he returns on 11th February, to play... Man United.

They're suspending it til after his appeal, so it'll no doubt somehow end up with the United match being his first game back.

Will Dogleash apologise to Evra now? I'm sorry, but Liverpool's stance has been terrible so far.

Doubt it, he's come across as a right twat. Just a good thing he's not come across as an altogether competent manager for a top club.

Should be more, but at least its vindication for Evra

Agreed, the scousers set out to publicly smear Evra's character and calls for him to get banned if Suarez is not guilty - this proves Pat was correct all along and dignified enough to remain silent until this point.

Liverpool fixture list:

PL: Wigan A

Carling Cup: Man City A
PL: Stoke H
PL: Bolton A

PL: Wolves A

Crikey.

Wasn't expecting his punishment to be that severe. It sets a strong precedent, so it'll be interesting to see what the FA do with Lionheart Terry's case.

Hmm, maybe it is that severe because they will expect an appeal- which they could possibly reduce?

 RAWK are claiming corruption. Never mind that the decision was made by an independent panel.

Surprised by this to be honest and glad that the FA did something at least. Will the FA release the evidence they charged him on (if they haven't already)?

So he'll miss the City league game and be back for the United game. Kinda hurts United in a way (less chance of them taking points from City without him).

Good. I hope Liverpool show some class and punish him themselves.

This very much so, and its what I suggested a few weeks ago.

Liverpool actually have it in their hands now to come out of this with a lot of respect.

Even if it is just a fine. They need to do something

Cheers. So assuming Liverpool don't appeal, he'll be back for the game after United at Old Trafford. Can't help but wonder if that's how they came up with 8 matches.

TBF, 8 matches is a pretty big ban in normal terms, if you don't focus on the silly bans that are reserved for our players.

Wonder what LFC's reaction will be... punish their own player for being found guilty of racism?

It does make me laugh the corruption claim, like they're relevant enough for any potentially corrupt party to target.

Watch Daglish slam the FA and Evra, Suarez can do no wrong.

If they beat Oldham he's back for our game.

FIFA World Cup 2010: Racial Abuse Disclosed by Patrice Evra | Suite101.com

It's just kinda strange, that with all the black footballers there are in England, Evra seems to be the one who's targeted the most when it comes to racism.

Any idea why that would be ?

Err, yeah :wenger:

Have you got an answer to my question as to why Evra seems to be the one who's targeted more than most when it comes to racism ?

Suarez plays week in, week out, against black players. Not only for club, but for his country aswell. However, I don't recall other black players accusing him of the kind of things your lad is. There were other players all within earshot of the players when Suarez is alleged to have come out with the insult. Yet surprisingly, none of them seem to have heard this word. Even more surprising when you consider he's supposed to have said it 10 times.

Put it this way sunshine. Unless there's some solid incriminating evidence forthcoming. It'll be a lot easier defending Suarez than it will be prosecuting him. Especially considering Evra's past record regarding accusing people of racism.

Considering the copious amounts of black players that have had longer Premiership careers without any reports of racial abuse, then yes, I'd consider 2 in 6 years to be something of an anomaly. What makes it even more suspicious, is the fact that these allegations have come on the grounds of 2 of United's fiercest rivals - If Suarez is guilty, then he'll deserve everything that's coming to him. But falsely accusing someone of racial abuse is just as serious as racial abuse itself. Therefore, I trust the FA will come down hard on Patrice Evra should his allegations be found to be untrue.

Until proven otherwise, they are untrue. So your point is invalid.

I have to confess to using a six letter word the begins with 'n' & ends with 'er' to describe Patrice Evra when he was chasing Suarez around the penalty box yesterday. But if calling someone a 'nutter' is a criminal offence, then sue me.

So it's OK for Evra to bring out the racist card every time he spits out his dummy then ? Simply because it can't be proven either way.

Take off your blinkers soft-lad.
Poor RedMan still thinking Evra played the race card.
