Ferguson knows how to improvise, perhaps he thinks Carrick's distribution from the back will help Jonny Evans, perhaps why he's put the faith in Gibson rather than Fryers.

Just with regards the bench, looking at how the team, and how many injuries and illness we've now got, whilst it's a little shock we haven't got Pogba on there, it makes sense perhaps to have more "senior players" as such as the first priority are the points, and with the constant gripes about how poor this one is, Fergie perhaps wants back up if it fails.
