Manchester United vs. Wigan Athletic

5 days until Blackburn and then another 5 days until newcastle, 50/50 on whether we should sub off Nani

United rotates its squad to keep them fresh during the packed holiday schedule, but who gives the refs a breather?

Dowd looks out of breath and off the pace. Too many matches or too much Christmas pudding?

Nah, he's just a fat feck.

He's always one of those refs that wants to be at the centre of attention. He loves a controversial decision and spending ages over booking players - loves to see himself as part of the action. He's a prick.

Liverpool have been doing this for a very long time indeed. They pay way over the odds regularly for what I would rate as being average players, and they sign a lot of them. A better policy would be to spend more on a smaller number of quality players, but they've for some reason got stuck in this hole/rut, whatever you want to call it, of having a large squad filled with expensive mediocrity. And it's been going on for years!

do you think it is also possible they get very good players and make them average?

To be fair, Berbatov is a better player than Danny, Welbeck will get better, but right now he is.
We play better football with Welbeck.

Barbatov's goals against Fulham (in a 5-0 win) and Wigan (with 10 men) don't change anything.

We play better with Welbeck and/or Hernandez. Berbatov is our fourth choice striker and this game won't change it.

With Wigan playing with 10 men and the game basically won, would you prefer if the likes of Nani was subbed off early ?
Nah. We should try to close the gap in GD on City. Against ten men and City seemingly having trouble away to West Brom, maybe there won't come a better chance around soon.

It wasn't a red but don't rush to judge the Ref. He gets one look at it from one angle, at full speed. Hands to the face are also a red card offense. It could have looked like a deliberate hand to the face from his angle.

Key game changing decisions (reds, goals, pens) should be reviewed by the 4th official.

Well, what can I say, it wasn't a red and i'd be livid if it was one of our players - but having said that, these things even themselves out over the course of the season - its true. So we shouldn't complain about that penalty that Newcastle got, but instead lets just accept Dowd's decision and open arms. And smash a few more past them, of course.

Suarez is probably worth that amount tbf.
back on topic.
I think we had enough on the bench to step it up if needed. Dont think the result was in too much danger.
But if Wigan go on to lose after this, they'll feel very hard done by. Sucks when that happens.

Gah Dowd. Just do your job right man.

To be fair, Berbatov is a better player than Danny, Welbeck will get better, but right now he is.

Welbeck is better suited to play with Rooney and the rest of the team and there lies the rub.

The fact that Berbatov is a better player is irrelevant almost as we will think of what's best for the team.

No surprise to me Berbatov is playing well without Rooney.

Look at the man's ponch and you have your answer.

I don't think that the goal difference really matters to be honest with you. If we can't win it on points, then we don't deserve it.

Welbz for Nani if we can get a 3rd or after 60-ish
Shame we dont have the luxury to rest Carrick/Evra. Hope we control it enough for them not to be too involved

I don't thing that the goal difference really matters to be honest with you. If we can't win it on points, then we don't deserve it.

It doesn't. But its always a nice card for Fergie to play come the run in if we're ahead. All that "extra point" bollocks.

Also, almost always, the team with the best GD wins the league (I think).

Him and Giggs should go off after 60 mins

Rafael to come on and Valencia to go back to his normal position

Well, Wigan are with 10 men and had a striker sent off, I can see why Fergie is using the opportunity to rest our one fit centerhalf. Hopefully it doesn't backfire, but really we should have more than enough to score more.

Despite having 5 quality centre backs, none of them are fit. Brilliant.

Fergie in the Wigan technical area
Noone has the balls to tell him that

I hope Evans coming off is to protect him from getting sent off rathern than an injury.
