Manchester United vs. Wigan Athletic

 Horrendous decision to send Sammon off. Was barely even a yellow.

don't we play blackburn next...

feck it always funny to see liverpool providing a comedy laugh.

Ref ruined the game as a contest following our failure to do so. We really should have translated our dominance in the first 45 to a 2-goal lead at least, but it looked like the players switched off, showing no urgency at all.

Giggs is 27.

Dowd's a crap ref isn't he, felt Wigan were still in it until the red which was a yellow at best. I do think refs need to clamp down on elbows and what not but that wasn't an elbow. Carrick's been fantastic again as has Evra, few players a wee bit off the pace but this game time will do them good. Delighted for Berba and Park.

Of all the times for my internet to do its best Carlos Tevez impersonation...

How have we looked so far? I've only just now managed to find a stream.

As it stands our goal difference is only 8 below City's, we really should go all out second half, we don't even play again for five days.

Berba really should get more games. Love Wellbeck but he has so many years ahead of him.

Berba has been pure class.

That was a red...when you raise your arm, your risk hitting a player. His whole object was to push the player away.

Not dirty, but it was red.

The whole Suarez incident is quickly becoming a fachts style catalyst for prolonged shitness.

Just looked at their line up: Henderson (£20m), Downing (£20m), Adam (£8m), Suarez (£22m), Carroll (£35m)

That's literally over £100m on attacking "talent" and they consistently struggle to break down shit teams at home.

Its all too easy, that was the clearest penalty ever though

Clearest since the one we didn't get at Fulham at least.

The red card will see to it that the 'united get all the decisions' crap continues.

And that's why Berbatov should get more games?

Let's buy Zidane, oou midfielders have so many years ahead of them.

United rotates its squad to keep them fresh during the packed holiday schedule, but who gives the refs a breather?

Dowd looks out of breath and off the pace. Too many matches or too much Christmas pudding?

Good start from us, we had been playing very well and knocking the ball around well with no danger at all from Wigan. As everyone else has said, the game was ruined by Dowd and I actually feel pretty sorry for Wigan and Sammon.

Anyway, good finish from Berba, looking like another three points in the bag and onwards and upwards again. Nice run of form we're in over the Christmas.

It wasn't a red but don't rush to judge the Ref. He gets one look at it from one angle, at full speed. Hands to the face are also a red card offense. It could have looked like a deliberate hand to the face from his angle.

Key game changing decisions (reds, goals, pens) should be reviewed by the 4th official.

Outside of Suarez there's little creativity there at all. Adam and Downing cross fairly well, but against organised defences, when struggling to break down, you need that little something extra. Very rigid, ordinary players.

Bollox. Intentional foul doesn't mean a straight red.

Backline looks a bit soft understandably but Wigan haven't really created anything, Sammon's been sent off too and wrongly for an apparent elbow which was a push in the face. Carrick and Evra have been excellent, we've mostly coasted but we've kept the ball well and made good chances, We can play much better. Gibson has played like Gibson, got an assist too.

Liverpool have been doing this for a very long time indeed. They pay way over the odds regularly for what I would rate as being average players, and they sign a lot of them. A better policy would be to spend more on a smaller number of quality players, but they've for some reason got stuck in this hole/rut, whatever you want to call it, of having a large squad filled with expensive mediocrity. And it's been going on for years!

I thought we were average tbh. Controlled it at the beginning but they managed to whip 4 cracking balls into the box which they really should have done more with. A little bit slow and laboured once we got the goal for a good 25-30 mins due to the controll we seemed to have.
